Tried to book a table over the festive period but we were told they don't take bookings whilst the Christmas decorations are up...what difference that makes, I don't know.
Anyway, joined the queue which was out the door as the doorman wouldn't let us in, despite us not wanting to dine in the main restaurant. We were just about to leave when a girl came out asking if anyone was just after a lighter lunch, which we were, and were swiftly taken inside and into the club room. ( where we originally wanted to go). Slightly annoying.

The food itself was nice, but not spectacular. I'd visit again if I was passing, but wouldn't go out my way.

This was opposite our Hotel on George Street, and the Georgian building with Corinthian columns looked so amazing and I had to take a look inside! The fabulous flower displays of oriental lilies as you enter the main room were incredible! The main domed room is quite splendid, an imposing bar in the centre and tables around it. There is also a small and more I intimate clubroom room bar on the side. Go there for cocktails or afternoon tea.

The Dome is a quite magnificent building ( previously a Bank ) and exudes class with a superb atmosphere. The pillars, chandeliers and general furnishings give The Dome a feeling of grandeur. The central bar area is in itself something to behold. The uniformed staff provide a professional, friendly and helpful service....you feel as if you are somewhere 'posh' and indeed you are. The sandwiches were great, with a very good choice of fillings and good value for money. Cream teas were also popular and looked really inviting. As a matter of interest, the toilet facilities are amazing. Quite an experience....another visit is inevitable, the sooner the better.

What a beautiful elegant restaurant, truly a stunning place. The staff were excellent as was the service. I wanted a mixture from the menu instead of a set meal and was told this was no problem at all which was refreshing as not all restaurants are so accommodating. The food is quite simple, nothing too exciting but it was very good. Lovely relaxing atmosphere, will definitely go again next time in Edinburgh.
