Me and my friends stayed for 3 nights there. The staff were helpful. The kitchen facilities are good and there's free coffee and hot chocolate but the smell of cooking gets in the common room so a bit annoying. otherwise a satisfying experience.

Excellent place to stay if you are visiting Edinburgh for a few days, either solo or with some friends. Be ready to sleep and live with a bunch of other people. They have a budget breakfast, only 2 pounds for everything you want to have. Great experience!

This was my first hostel experience and I was traveling solo, and I loved it. It was a super easy walk from the train station and incredibly well located. The staff is nice and helpful, and if you check in early, you can still leave your bags and use the WiFi/toilets/lounges. Some highlights include:

-clean towel rentals for 50p
-free coffee and tea in the kitchen
-clean and comfortable beds w 2 pillows
-fast WiFi with no issues
-2 USB outlets at each bed
-they give you a key to a locker, you don’t need your own lock
-showers are spacious with lots of hooks and shelves inside
-lounges are large and well decorated

Overall this is a clean and lovely hostel with tons of character, would absolutely recommend.

The hostel is in a side street half way the Royal Mile. From here, everything is close enough for a walk instead of travelling by public transport (or another way to travel). They offer a good service and you can have breakfast for £1,90 per day.
Instead of Castle Rock Hostel, do they only have one lounge room. But that's the only negative thing that comes up to me.

I've booked two nights in this hostel to have the opportunity to visit the city. The position is fantastic! Two minutes walking and you're in the heart of the old city. All the commodities are just in the streets around it. Also the room was very clean, simple but perfect to rest. Moreover the hostel offers a kitchen and a living room where to enjoy company of other travelers.
Really thanks to the staff, it did an amazing job. Hope to come back soon
