“Warm and comfortable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2013

Had a very comfortable time staying here for the past week. Sits in a convenient location just off the Royal Mile. Rooms are very comfortable with new beds and have secondary glazing fitted which makes the it very comfy. The staff couldn't do enough for you either. Wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else If i was visiting Edinburgh

We booked 2 rooms for an overnight stay as we were seeing a show at the playhouse. Hotel is a great location and took 10 minutes to get to princes st.
Room clean and quiet as we were at the rear of building, would come back here again for cheap and cheerful stay.

Hotel has good location and friendly staff. Only lack of staff at this hotel was a big issue. We booked a taxi to arrive at 5.15pm and the guy on reception sent it at 5.15 am so not at all happy with the earlymorning call, they blamed the language barrier on this. Poor excuse...

Room Tip: Remember to take own toiletries as nothing is provided

For the price we paid it was well worth it.Obviously Travelodge is a basic hotel so what we got in accordance to what we paid was well worth it.Breakfast was very basic ie sausage, bacon eggs a few cerals but was nice.We stayed 3 nights and had the same bedding for the whole 3 nights. The 3rd morning the bedding wasnt even dressed onto the bed .Staff were lovely and very friendly however

I stayed here on Monday night and had a very comfortable stay. The room I had was on the third floor and although the lift makes a bit of a racket when opening the room was spotless when I arrived and looked as if it had recently been refurbished. The new beds advertised throughout the hotel were very comfortable and there was adequate coffee making facilities in the room. The check in process was quick and simple. The hotel is quite central and just off the royal mile so was not far for me to walk from Waverley station with the help of my phone. I took a walk at night and there are a huge choice of pubs and cafes nearby. I had booked the buffet breakfast in the morning and found this to be decent value for money. There was a huge selection of cereals as well as plenty of coffee and fresh juice. There were pastries as well as a few hot items. The sausages were superb and I enjoyed the scrambled egg. I was not so keen on the bacon as it was very thin and not suitable for a hot plate. There was also yoghurts as well as some fresh fruit. Despite a baby crying in the background, I had a nice breakfast and would recommend this be added when you book as you get a slight discount. Also this is one of the few travelodges near the centre, which do the buffet breakfast. Overall a really enjoyable stay and checkout of 12 allows for a lie in, if desired.

Room Tip: New beds are comfy, but beware of the noise of the lift opening

My Husband booked this Travelodge for a weekend break to watch the Glos/Edinburgh rugby. I did moan a bit when I found out as I'd have preferred a cosy B&B. My previous experience of a Travelodge was a souless room with no facitilies. Wow, haven't they improved.
I was very impressed. The staff were friendly, the room lovely and the bed was all crisp white cotton and fluffy cushions and was sooooo comfy. The all you can eat buffet was good. A great selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt followed by bacon, sausages, fresh tomato, scrambled egg & beans. There's also croisants, blueberry muffins etc. Various spreads for your bread/toast including nutella & marmite. We filled up on this which lasted us all day.
The room was so nice with a flat screen tele that we got ourselves a take away and some alcohol to enjoy after we got back at night. I'd definately recommend this hotel as it's central and great value for money.

Stayed at the Travelodge with my husband and two children for a weekend break. The staff couldnt be friendlier. The rooms have been refurbished since the last time we stayed there 4 years ago. Breakfast lovely. Very clean too. Location is just a minute away from The Royal Mile, 10 mins walk from Princess St and the Dynamic Earth and National Museam (both of which are fab for the kids).
