“Great value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2014 via mobile

We stayed as a large group in several different rooms. I don't think you could beat it for value and location. Located just off the royal mile and only a 10 minute walk to Princes street it's fantastic for getting about.
The hotel staff were all friendly and accommodating. Any requests dealt with and any issues resolved.

This is in an excellent location - 30 seconds walk to the Royal Mile and not far from the train station. Room was lovely and clean, and despite being above the front door of the building was wonderfully quiet.

We took a family room as there were 3 of us, and the beds were very comfy and a lovely big room! However, there was no hairdryer in the room, but on asking at reception we were given one straightaway.

Breakfast was excellent, with a good choice without being overwhelmed, and finding a table was easy.

Staff were very helpful and friendly, and we took advantage of the unofficial (therefore not stated on the website) left luggage service on our last day. If we'd have known this before we arrived, we wouldn't have spent £10 at the station to leave our suitcase there.

We 100% recommend this hotel, and would definitely stay there again.

We've been here before and it was great, but they've recently refurbished the place which makes it even better. From welcome to departure, the staff were first-rate. It's inexpensive by Edinburgh standards, but it doesn't have a cheap feel about it. There are other Edinburgh hotels that are twice or three times the price that feel a lot cheaper. The rooms are standard Travelodge, but refurbishment of the rooms has led to some nice redecoration with pictures and a shower that works really well - it is powerful and keeps its temperature steady. The beds are very comfy and the double glazing is now, well, quadruple! Rather than replace the windows, they simply added further double glazed windows inside. What a great idea - there is NO noise from what can be quite a noisy city, but they are all still openable for ventilation!

The city centre location makes this a wonderful place to stay - 100m from the Royal Mile, less than ten minutes walk from the railway station (along Jeffrey Street, not the way Google Maps will take you!), 15 minutes to the Castle. There are enough eateries round about to give one no need to step into the New Town, one can just stay in the atmosphere and history of the Old Town!

If you want a quiet room, ask them for one when you arrive. They'll fix you up if they can. The room we had was brilliant - this tends to be a popular place for hen parties and the like, and there were two in the hotel during our stay ... at the same time. Did we hear anything of them? Not a peep!

The bar/restaurant is OK for a quick drink before you go out, but it doesn't have the atmosphere of the city! The breakfast is worth having at the price - well cooked and "all you can eat".

All in all a great place to stay if you want to experience the best bits of this beautiful city.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, ask for one - the lower ground rooms are much quieter that the higher ones...

We stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. The bed was very comfortable!! We also enjoyed our buffet breakfasts which included sausage, eggs and bacon. Brilliant for a city break, and a very good price. I would happily visit this travelodge again

This hotel was a very good value and we loved the central location. We found it to be quiet at night except on early Sunday morning (2-5 am) we could hear a LOT of noisy drunk people walking in the halls, yelling, etc. The bed was super comfy and the food options were really nice.

We booked a triple room, very like the professional photos. Very clean and tidy. Near the city center (royal mile). The breakfast had little diversity. The staff was nice. The room was warm and confortable.
