“Basic, but central”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

Delighted with the location of hotel. We knew it would be basic accommodation, and if you don't mind not having a hairdryer, phone or toiletries in the room then that's fine. Room was good size and clean but no air-con proved difficult at night. We had to leave the windows open which meant being woken at 4am with the resident seagulls. But no road noise which was good! Breakfast again was basic: cereal, few bread items, standard self service cooked breakfast, but not too appetising. Common area consisted of the restaurant but as the hotel was so central we were out all the time, returning to vase for quick stops or to sleep.
All in all, I think we got what we paid for. If you are looking for a decent central base for a good price then this is the place!

Room Tip: Basic but central

excellent location with space in car park which was a relief. Staff were really nice and helpful looked after our bags for a few hours when we arrived. We had a nice quiet room 42 although on the street there was no noise and at the end no one going by, Bedding was lovely had good sleep, bathroom wasnt huge but adequate for our needs. had a nice pizza and drinks in bar were cheaper than local bars nearby ..... Second time stayed here would go back

Booked for couple nights, Debbie on reception was great in arranging a family room even though the booking showed a double. The location is excellent and very good prices. Bathroom was a bit tatty and car park a squeeze but overall would recommend.

My wife and I have stayed at this Travelodge on several occasions as we are frequent visitors to Edinburgh to see my elderly Mother in Law who is in care. This Travelodge offers fantastic value for money considering its central location. Rooms are always clean with plenty of hot water. The only minor down side is that it can be noisy at weekends due to revellers returning home after a night on the town.

Room Tip: Quietest rooms are to the rear facing the car park.

After an hour of faff at the reception ( they did not have a room for me, than I had to take a taxi to Haymarket, then they said, they would have a room for me), I finally got the room. The receptionist offered me free breakfast for all the hassle. I told him, it was very kind, but I would give it a miss.

The hotel was booked for me as I was traveling with a large group.
The best thing about it is the location.
The rest rest is just average. The reception area is somehow scruffy and the so is the staircase. I don't like the whole entrance arrangement. It usually attracts groups of men hanging around, so walking in on your own could be a little bit intimidating for a woman.
The rooms are all right, the beds were not too bad either.
If you after a simple accommodation, this hotel is fine.
I don't understand why you only get half an hour free internet???

Loved it! Close to the Royal Mile and the Tourist trail and five minutes walk from the main Station. After a five hour journey, with a Child, Partner and luggage. It's what you need, someplace that's close to everything.
The room was quiet, clean, large and comfortable for our needs and the staff were really helpful with good local knowledge.
