What a lovely hotel. The staff are so friendly and very helpful. The breakfast is more than adequate with a cooked breakfast along with everything you could imagine, from rolls, toast, fresh orange juice, cereals, fruit, tea & coffee. The rooms were lovely and warm. Shame the hotel did not have an eatery for evening meals. But I would thoroughly recommend it. The buses stop just outside the hotel to travel into Edinburgh so no need for a car to take you in. They are very frequent as well. This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and never had any problems at all. Just thought the staff ought to get some praise because they work very hard at it and the management should be proud of them.!!!

Room Tip: we were in a room just opposite the lifts and I was dubious about the noise of the lift doors, but w...

six of us stayed here at the beginning of October. We were spending a girly weekend seeing the sights and shopping in Edinburgh. The hotel was fab, we have stayed with this chain before and as we have previously found the rooms were a good size, very clean, nice and warm and the staff were friendly and efficient. The breakfast is basic but there is plenty of it and enough to give you a good start to the day. This hotel is ideal for exploring the city, there is a shopping centre with cinema literally just across the road, plenty of places to eat nearby and a bus stop just outside. I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend this hotel.

Another great stay at this Hotel - this time with two work colleagues. Restful night and good breakfast. The rooms where very clean and the Hotel reception staff friendly and efficient. Good location just far enough from the hustle of the City but close enough to jump on a bus [bus stop outside the Hotel entrance] or via taxi - both of which will take you about 10 minutes to Princess Street. Will stay here again

My husband & I stayed at the holiday inn leith for a week at he beginning of Sept 12, we had a great time. The staff were friendly & helpful, & the rooms were always kept clean. The breakfast is ok however, in order to achieve five stars for this review would have liked the option of a full English breakfast. The hotel is in a fab location if you want to visit Edinburgh & it's surrounding areas, with it having good parking facilities & access to public transport. Leith itself isn't that scenic but does have some good bars & eating places.

We took our dog with us to this hotel, & there were no issues. We were able to leave our dog in our room whilst we went out to eat, & felt that the hotel was accepting of pets as advertised.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed for one night at this hotel, choosing it for its central location and the fact that it had car parking. It was good value for money, clean and well kept with very courteous staff. There is easy access to Ocean Terminal and to buses for the city centre. It was good to be able to park the car and to leave the car there on the day we were leaving so we could shop in the city centre.

This is the second time that I have stayed in this hotel. The room was very clean and everything functioned in the bathroom. The car parking is an added bonus- something you don't normally get if you stay in a city hotel. There is a bus stop outside and it costs £1-40 to travel into the city. I found the staff at reception exceptionally helpful. They even gave us discount vouchers for the HoHo bus.
Breakfast is actually quite good although you do have to serve yourself. Everything was freshly cooked and there was a good selection. It was a bit busy on the Saturday morning as everyone seemed to arrive at the same time. Sunday was more relaxed and we had a choice of tables.
I would recommend this hotel as there are a lot of quality restaurants and good pubs in the area.

After doing a lot of research, we decided to stay a little away from the city centre, just so that we can explore the city of Edinburgh a bit more. This Holiday Inn Express is just 2.7 miles from Waverley Station. On a nice day, when it's not raining outside, you can take a walk right next to the big ship Britannia and also check out the Ocean Front mall right opposite the hotel. As usual, the rooms were clean, breakfast starts early and the best part is the bus stop is just outside the entrance. If it's the first time you are going to Edinburgh, please be warned that traffic is bad. I mean BAD! Suggest using local buses to get to places but you could get stuck in traffic for ever sometimes. If you have a very little time to stay in Edinburgh then choose some other hotel in the city center. But this one is not at all far from the station. Overall, we enjoyed the stay. Thank you Holiday Inn Express Waterfront.
