“FIRST CLASS IN ALL ASPECTS”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

We booked into the Prestonfield House Hotel for the Hogmanay Festival for 3 nights.. The Ball is held in a converted stables within the Hotel grounds with the interior resembling that of a circus big tent. I have to say the festival was faultless with excellent food and entertainment

From arriving on the 30th we were welcomed with a genuinley warm greeting by the front staff and checked in by Emma, who after checking us in escorted us to our room to explain all its features

We stayed in room 5 on the ground floor which has one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in... beautiful.... enhanced by its four posts.. the decor is mainly red and black, quite gothic in apperance..

The views from anywhere in the Hotel are faultless and there is a tranqulity about the place in general which, in fairness, you will need to experience as its difficult to place into words.

We also dined at the Hotel Restaurant ( Rubharb) Again.. excellent.. with attentive, but not overbearing or intrusive service.. and the Wine List has to be the most extensive I have ever seen.. with choices of wine from all over the Globe and at all ranges. In fact, I believe the Hotel has a Mitchellin star for their wine list.

Really ...to sum up... When you stay at Prestonfield House Hotel, you are treated like a real person.. This hotel is run to please its guests ..not ...accountants.. You the guest.come first.!

The General Manager, (Alan) is very approachable and,can be seen ( walking the Walk ) with his staff and indeed guests which speaks volumes to me about the way this hotel is run..

Room Tip: When booking let the staff know what you are looking for in aroom.. this is not some faceless centra...

We have stayed several times at Prestonfield, In Nov 2013 we took eight friends to stay for a weekend and subsequently booked for New Year. Both visits were superb. The atmosphere is always wonderful and the staff can never do enough for you. It really is a haven of tranquility - the decor, the food, the service and attention you receive are of the highest quality - even our Jack Russel was made to feel quite special. Many Thanks to `ALL` the staff and we look forward to seeing you again in the not too distant future

Thank you to all the staff for once again pulling all the stops out to make our family celebration fantastic. The Italian Room looked so beautiful and the food was first class. I know the hotel was busy being the 30th Dec but it never showed in the attention and service we got. Till next time.

Stayed here after a wine tasting, the food in the restaurant is excellent as is the service. The decor is first class and OTT but that adds to classy nature of the hotel. We opted for room service at breakfast and the Eggs Benedict were fantastic, the table was set for us with silver cutlery, salt & pepper. I thoroughly recommend staying here as a special occasion.

I thoroughly recommend this hotel for a romantic treat. It felt as though we were staying at the country house of a wealthy relative! The hotel is lavishly decorated, particularly wonderful at Christmas with log fires and well decorated Christmas trees in the public rooms.

Our room was fantastic, richly decorated and very comfortable, with nice touches such as petit fours every evening. Our room was in the more modern extension at the back, but decorated in a traditional style, and had the usual amenities such as air-con and a gigantic flatscreen TV. The hotel has a DVD library and we enjoyed watching a movie on the huge soft bed.

Outside are nice gardens and a golf course, peacocks and highland cows. The hotel is close to Arthur's Seat, and after a cold climb to the top we warmed up by one of their log fires. It took around 20-minutes to walk into town, or a £6-7 taxi ride. We spent less time in town than we expected, as it was so lovely to spend time at Prestonfield.

Breakfast is excellent- around eight hot options and a good buffet selection, served in an ornate dining room. They provide room service 24/7.

The staff were very helpful, friendly and attentive- we were always warmly greeted when we arrived back at the hotel and staff were always offering to help us.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 16, which is in the more modern extension at the back looking over the gardens, go...

The Famous Scottish Show - our evening was faultless from the moment we arrived till the very end. We got the tickets for "dinner, show & wine", was very well worth it!
The staff were all so friendly and helpful, delicious food and the show exceeded all expectation.
Lovely location and setting and a quality evening!
Will definitely be back next year!
