“Stay at Prestonfield House”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

Excellent service, very helpful staff, high level of customer service, amazing surroundings.
The breakfast was of very high quality and the campagne included in the price of the room was excellent.
Every effort made from the staff was accompanied with class, politeness and genuine interest of making our stay as pleasant as possible.

Room Tip: All standard room are incredibly luxurious and nice . Worth every pound.

I would like say "Thank you" to the lovely staff at Prestonfield. I booked an afternoon tea for my husband and I for the day after Valentine's Day. I explained that my husband had cancer in the booking notes and upon arrival, we were welcomes and shown to the sofa right by the open fire in the Tapestry Room, apparently a sort after seat. The tea was a delight and the cakes were absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't quite finish mine and the staff wrapped it up for me to take home. Prestonfield is a very special place and I would love to be able to stay there one day.

We had a fabulous overnight stay at this truly unique and extravagant hotel. From start to finish, the staff were outstanding: professional, courteous, attentive, and very natural. The hotel has an incredible buzz and wonderful atmosphere. We dined at Rhubarb restaurant and were hugely impressed by the quality of food and service. Prestonfield is perfect for a special occasion. We unconditionally recommend it and will definitely return. Hospitality at its very best. Mr & Mrs Miller.

Difficult to find superlatives that can adequately describe this hotel. Much has been written elsewhere about the decor, and the building itself, but it still takes your breath away (even on second and subsequent visits). The level of service available will cater for every need, whether you only want help with a door, or need to be totally pampered and spoilt. What really stands out is not so much the effort that has gone into customer care, but the enthusiasm with which it is delivered by everyone you meet. All of this, and the splendid catering in Rhubarb, are delivered in such a relaxed and welcoming manner that you cannot fail to be thoroughly chilled after the experience.

Room Tip: They are all first-class.

I had read the reviews for the hotel but the level of attention to detail and service surpassed my expectations. I cannot praise the hotel and the staff enough. It is a unique place and well worth a visit. The food at Rhubarb was also superb.

I can't praise Prestonfield highly enough.
We arrived badly in need of some TLC, and that's exactly what we got. From a wonderfully soft four poster bed, to a dog bowl on the floor for the pooch, everything was utterly delightful. Chocolate chip biscuits and chocs, rolling green gardens, smiling friendly staff, and nothing too much trouble; exactly what the doctor ordered. The dog even got a sausage served to her for breakfast! (Not at the table, I hasten to add!)
When it comes to 'nothing too much trouble', this was epitomised by our treatment at Rhubarb, the Prestonfield restaurant. My partner is a vegetarian, but she's also a coeliac. Often this is greeted with chewed lips and angst. Sometimes we've encountered downright irritation - like she's doing the coeliac thing on purpose, just to be difficult. But at Prestonfield, not only was the news greeted with equanimity, but the chef sent up a special menu with several choices - all utterly tempting and provoking quivers of joy. We were both thrilled by the whole experience - not to mention the stunning, gothic surroundings.
In fact, if I have any criticism at all it's that the staff are overly attentive, and ask rather too often whether everything is all right! But as criticisms go, it's certainly something you can live with!
I cannot wait for another visit!

This is one of the most beautiful places iv ever been. From the moment we stepped foot at the entrance of the hotel the staff took great care of us.

We enjoyed our Afternoon Tea in the Leather Room which is decorated gorgeously and has a cosy fire!

We all thoroughly enjoyed the sandwiches and cakes and I cannot wait to return!
