Fantastic place to be

Review of Prestonfield
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 May 2024
We had 3 fantastic nights at the Prestonfield House and it is hard to find the right words. The staff is outstanding, friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, going the extra miles for you. The Ambiente, you just have to see all the details in the decor and surroundings. Food is first class, and if you don’t feel like a white table cloth dinner, you can have fantastic pub food in a drawing room. The breakfast is a la carte and incredibly good, best eggs ever.
The only thing I wished we had is a down comforter instead of a blanket, but that will not keep us away.

Belated review for such an amazing property. My mother and I visited the week of Thanksgiving on the recommendation of friends and enjoyed every minute of their personalized service. The front desk staff was ever present and always wanted to make sure everything was to our liking. The rooms are beautiful and individually/uniquely decorated as are all of the public spaces. Food and drinks were always delicious and it’s a great location. It was a pleasure being there (except when they hosted an event one night that played loud music past midnight) and I would come back in a minute.

Room tip: Best during the week; restaurants are crowded on weekends there.

A beautiful and opulent hotel tucked away from
the hustle and bustle. The staff were amazing- so attentive without being intrusive. We stayed in the Benjamin Franklin suite which was luxurious and so comfortable. The champagne and petit fours in the room made it extra special. Will definitely return

Not the first time we have stayed at Prestonfield and it won’t be the last, always love the experience, pricey but who doesn’t like a bit of luxury. Will be back. The staff make the experience and cannot do enough for you. Nice weather was a bonus.

Our expectations were high given this well established venues reputation. The grounds are beautifully maintained and show off the setting on arrival. The welcome begins even before you go through the door and initial impressions are WOW!

The entrance had a beautiful display of spring bulbs as you go up the stairs towards the main door, the dark plush interior has a very grand and luxurious feel to it. Every member of staff acknowledges you as you are guided to your table excited about what lies ahead. You already feel a bit special.

We were sat at a window in rather grand chairs facing out to allow us to appreciate the view and amazing setting of the hotel. Sadly this also drew our attention to two cracked window panes and appalling paintwork on the grand old window frames.

The meal ( we were there at lunchtime but chose from the a la carte menu ) was excellent and we enjoyed every mouthful. The cheeseboard came with a card detailing the cheese, sadly two of our cheeses clearly did not match the card and we were not advised of any change. A group at the next table asked a couple of questions about the menu and we noted the waitress had to go to the kitchen each time before she could answer.

Overall a good but not great experience which given the cost is a little disappointing.

A wonderful and luxurious hotel where we felt very relaxed and pampered with superb service that wasn’t intrusive. The palatial hotel is simply divine and must be enjoyed to its potential. We couldn’t fault anything. Loved it and can’t wait to go back and experience more.
