Malmaison Edinburgh is a beautiful hotel, perfect location down on the shore if leith. It's nice to come back to a luxurious clean room after site seeing.

The thing that stands out most about this hotel is the brasserie staff. Thank you all for looking after us so attentively, every recommendation made was spot on. Breakfast was busy however again staff recognised us from the night before which made us feel very welcome.

Great experience. We will be back.

We used this hotel in June '14 for a post-funeral reception. The food was tasty, exciting and fresh. All the staff we dealt with were professional, caring and extremely helpful, which made the whole booking process very quick and simple and helped our function run smoothly. My family and friends were really impressed with the decor and hotel facilities, the brasserie environment and furnishings were first class.
This is the perfect venue for such a sad but very memorable occasion. My grateful thanks to all the staff involved.

Stayed here as part of a business trip, hotel was beautiful inside if perhaps a little aged. The only recommendation is to give it an update.

Staff were all very helpful. The receptionist went beyond to ensure we had everything we needed.

Great bar and staff who were extremely helpful. From welcoming us in, bringing us our drinks, going over the menu and having some fantastic "banter" (Scottish for great conversation apparently) Great cocktail maker and amazing end to our night

Well done Malmaison

The hotel is blended into a very old building and is in a prime location for a weekend away. There was never any mess and the staff were excellent. It is a bit noisy if the windows are open as the area near is quite industrial. The breakfast was really nice but also really expensive, i found myself eating as much as possible to get my moneys worth but still felt short changed. One of the night we treated ourselves with some puddings in bed through the room service, this also cost a lot and the food was a bit disappointing. The pillows are massive too and i found them hard to sleep on. Overall a good experience but you may feel your wallet has taken a bashing.

Stayed here for one night, had a few problems with the location of the room given our circumstances, something which Mal management were happy to put right for us when we initially complained and when we checked out, which made our experience a little more palatable.

However, the rooms are tired and worn looking and no longer 'chic' with the whole hotel feeling and looking a bit grubby.

Bad nights sleep in the heat as no aircon in the rooms and too noisy to have the windows open.

I'm no prude but found the marketing cringeworthy and seedy in the hotel and wouldn't stay as a family again.

Didn't eat breakfast as felt very overpriced at £14.00 per person.

That said, great location in Leith and happy with the choice for that reason.

We stayed at this hotel for a treat for ourselfs, the welcome was very good and pleasant, greated with a smile, the room was ok, but the food in the restuarant was excellant, i had the 450 strip steak, was cooked to perfection, and the mal steak sauce that came with was a good compliment, i ordered mac cheese as a side dish along with spinach, my wife had the special which was seafood trio, she said it was the best fish dish seh's had in a long time, Breackfast was very busy but the standard of breakfast was very good, staff were proffesional and polite.
would recommend to anyone.

We stayed at this hotel as a treat away even though not too far away from where we live, after having visited many of the other properties within the Malmaison group. Whilst the décor in our room was not the most modern anymore we found the standard of cleanliness to be top notch. Any encounter with staff was always pleasant and everyone seemed passionate and went about their jobs with pride. Whilst we did not have an evening meal in the restaurant at breakfast the service and food was first class - eggs benedict with bacon one of the best I've had!
Overall a great hotel for a relaxed night away and one of my favourite Malmaison's I've visited!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
It's the mother of all Malmaison's. The former house of ill-repute now has a reputation that's second to none, and it's also just a short taxi ride away from Waverley Station. Malmaison Edinburgh bides at Leith (as they say up here), just a stone's throw from the Royal Yacht Britannia, but offering far more funky luxury. Yes, when you want exciting hotels in Edinburgh, this is the King, not the castle. Our Edinburgh hotel puts you close to all of Edinburgh's cobbled splendours, incredible shopping and famous galleries. Then it's back to Mal for Scots dining with a twist, a fine selection of single malts and mojitos in the bar and then back to the slinkiest and most spectacular rooms in the Scots capital. ... more   less
