“So handy and great value for money.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

We stayed here a couple of times when it was the Quality Hotel and enjoyed it both times and were delighted to see it is now a Holiday Inn Express. As members of their reward club we have stayed in quite a few of these hotels and have always found them excellent value, this time was certainly no exception. The hotel has had a complete do-over and is bright, fresh and welcoming. We were fans of the old Auberge restaurant and were sorry to see it gone but had made plans this trip to eat in Edinburgh so did not try any food in the evening - but the free breakfast in the morning was great. We were leaving before the hot breakfast started so were only expecting a cup of tea/coffee and maybe some sort of pastry but were delighted with the choice of cereal, pastries etc. in the past we've forked out for breakfast at the airport but this wasn't necessary this trip as there was such a great choice. We used the parking package and found it so convenient, yes, the parking area is a bit messy underfoot but we dropped everything off at the hotel door first so only one of us had to go into the car park and did the opposite on returning. Yes, it is £2.50 for the shuttle but for the service and convenience it is worth it for me. The rooms themselves were lovely and a decent size, we were a party of 4 in 2 rooms so the sofas in each room meant we could all sit comfortably together in one place. We weren't bothered by much noise - just the usual for an airport hotel - and didn't find any issue with the temperature despite it being unusually warm for Edinburgh. We'll definitely be back!

Stayed here before catching a 6.30 am flight, and arrived about 7pm looking to eat before an early night. Shuttle bus from the terminal was just leaving its stance when we arrived but the driver kindly paused to let us catch up.

Reception was helpful and we had an excellently appointed room -ample space and an excellent shower. There were around 8 or 10 main dinner options in the bar. Burger was very good, as was the beer and the salad was ok. Girl serving at the bar was new to the role and struggled to get the credit card machine to work, which was a bit annoying.

Got a good nights sleep and had a "complimentary" light breakfast - coffee and pastry which was available from 4 am - before the shuttle bus took us briskly along to the terminal

Stayed here recently in order to catch an early morning flight. The hotel is perfectly adequate for this purpose. There is no air-conditioning in the bedrooms and we happened to be staying during a sustained period of warmer weather. The room had plenty of windows to let in a breeze but the downside was that the room was at the front of the hotel, directly above the bus pick-up and drop off. This meant that with the windows open, the noise of the frequent bus service was a bit intrusive, especially when it re-started at 4am. There had been a mix-up with our room on arrival and this was sorted promptly, efficiently and with the minimum of fuss. Hotel facilities were all that you would expect / need for a short stay. Will use the hotel again.

Everything in this hotel has been organised in the best way to make travellers' life easier and comfortable.
The bedding material is extremely comfortable , the bathroom is spacious and luxurious. Breakfast is served from 4.00 am and it is really very good with a wide range of products freshly cooked. I also had lunch and dinner at the restaurant. All the dishes I had were delicious, the salads were great. The Merlot was amazing. Restaurant prices a bit high though.
Wonderful, friendly, helpful staff. Overall , an excellent hotel.

Good Holiday Inn Express, gives exactly what is called for from an airport hotel, a good nights sleep.
The hotel is in a strange location hidden away almost behind the airport. But is very well signposted and very very close to the airport, you could probably walk it, but there is a shuttle bus anyway for a small extra charge.
Hotel is well organised with a good bar and restaurant area.
We were given a room at the far end of the corridor, which was good for not getting disturbed by other guests, but unfortuantly the free wi fi signal was not strong enough to reach this far down the corridor, when we checked out we mentioned this, and were straight away given our drinks at the bar free of charge, and promised that this issue would be rectified shortly, we thought this was dealt with well and politley by the reception staff.
It is also worth mentioning how helpful the recception staff were with our questions re trams into Edinburgh when we chacked in,

Found the hotel staff very friendly & helpfull at check in,room was nice & clean & everything you could want for an overnight stay/early flight with a frequent pick up bus service at the main reception.
Food & drinks however were massivley overpriced for very basic & average evening menu choice, breakfast chaotic with staff non commital & unhelpfull ,just doing there daily chores with no interaction with guests,we left early morning hungry & dissapointed paying a package price for a cooked breakfast & only managing to find tasteless sausages & scrambled eggs that resembled wallpaper paste.never found a fried egg, bacon or even a mushroom yet!
stayed at the holiday in at Glasgow last year & the service & organisation of the breakfast and choice super exceeded Edinburgh hands down & to top it all off came back to a scratch damaged car!

Room Tip: Rooms great & sleep quality very good considering its adjacent to the main runway, reception gir...

Hi POPOJO. Thank you for your review. Very happy to read you found the hotel clean and the team helpful and friendly. We are disappointed and sorry to read that you left unhappy with our food offering! Please do realize though that the Holiday Inn EXPRESS breakfast standard is different than Holiday Inn's (breakfast standard). Although please accept our sincere apologies that the service received during breakfast was not up to standard. Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel. Jason Dombrower General Manager.
