“Worst nights sleep!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2014

First of all I will begin with the positives. Very central location and the room was clean.

Now for the negatives. The room is like a box, particularly our room which didn't even have a window. At night because it was so small it was very hot and stuffy and no window to open. There was a £5 charge for the TV in the room. I have never ever stayed anywhere that has charged for the use of a TV before. The bathroom was almost the size of a plane toilet, absolutely tiny. The worst bit about the hotel was that the walls are paper thin. We could hear absolutely everything going on so had the worst nights sleep ever being woken up by loud thudding of doors every hour and people having conversations and we heard someone's alarm go off very early in the morning. Very overpriced as we were £99 for one night, not worth it at all.

Overall, I would never return to an easy hotel as it was not a pleasant experience in the slightest.

Stayed here as this hotel is extremely affordable at less than 40 pounds a night for a room. It is located on Princes Street, the main shopping street in Edinburgh so it is very convenient. It is about a 10-minute walk (with luggage) to the hotel from Edinburgh station. After coming up from the station, cross at the road, turn left and walk until you see 125a where the hotel is located. It is located near Edinburgh castle so you can walk to the castle easily from the hotel.

Yes, I agree with other reviewers that the room is extremely small, but I don't expect a big room with the price I paid. The receptionist was really nice and kindly allowed us to check in at 2pm although check-in starts at 3pm. A no-frills and budget option for budget people like myself. Recommended for budget travellers. If you want more space, please look elsewhere:)

I stayed here a few weeks ago and opted for a standard room with a window as I had read reviews and realised that I needed natural light and a bit of space!

The room I had was fine, nice comfy double bed, clean and with a perfect view of the Edinburgh castle, nicer at night when lit up.

The toilet/shower room/closet is very small and resembles a train/plane toilet cubicle. But it does the job!

Friends of mine we were with opted for a small room with no window, it was very hot and small and dark. But it did the job for them as we were only staying one night and it was fine for somewhere to sleep. Anymore than one night I would have got claustrophobic!

Perfect location for Princes Street and Dungeons/Castle etc.

Room Tip: A standard room with a window is worth paying for, even for the extra few sq/m of space! Especially...

Summary:

* Excellent location * Excellent price * Clean
* Extremely small room * Claustrophobic * Suitable for one night * Very basic facilities

We stayed for one night for a bank holiday mini break.

The easyhotel is situated on Princes Street, Edinburgh's premier street and is located almost opposite the castle. The location couldn't be more central for Edinburgh's fantastic selection of shops and restaurants and it's a short walk from Waverley station.

The headline rate was superb value with other hotels priced at double or more for a bank holiday weekend. easyhotel rates for this hotel don't appear on price comparison websites so you will need to check the easyhotel website to compare the price. Payment can only be made by debit or credit card. A fixed Transaction Fee of £1.95 is applied when you pay by credit or debit card - which is not included in the headline rate.

We arrived at 3pm and the check-in was straightforward and friendly. We were allocated a room on the third (top) floor.

The hotel occupies a period building with no lift. There were 75 spiral stairs from the entrance to the third floor.

There are three types of room at this hotel: Standard Room (with window), Small room (with window) and Small room (no window). The standard rooms overlook Princes Street and the Castle, the small rooms (with window) overlook the rear part of the hotel. The remaining rooms (6 per floor) have no window.

We booked a small room (no window). The room was 3m x 3.5m in size and contained a bed, TV, coat hook and bathroom with shower and basin. The room was clean and the linens and towels were fresh. There were no tea/coffee making facilities. There were three electrical sockets in the room. A ceiling vent provided continuous recirculated air.

The double bed was wedged right up against three of the four walls. The remaining edge of the bed is the only possible place to sit and we found that the mattress springs had lost their firmness through sitting and climbing across the bed. The duvet and pillows were very thin.

The rooms would not be suitable for guests who suffer from claustrophobia or who have large quantities of luggage. The room would be unsuitable if you needed a desk or chair for work.

There was some noise caused by other guests slamming room doors.

The bathroom cubicle was extremely small and we found it challenging to use the shower in the very confined space.

Other reviewers have described the rooms as more like a cabin, which is an accurate description.

This easyhotel would not be my first choice but the price for such a premier location is very hard to beat.

Room Tip: This is a budget hotel. The Standard Rooms (with window) are the largest (8.5 square metres) with vi...

Turned out easy hotel wasn't that easy,

Located in the centre of Edinburgh yes it was very very handy but the room was just awful. For a start the hotel itself is up one flight of stairs and with dodgy knees this turned into a bit of a trek. Then there was the room I was staying in a small room with no window which when I made the booking on the phone was told it was ample for 2 people. This was completely not the case at all, it was absolutely disgraceful of course unless your a mythical hobbit then it would be fine. The bed was lumpy and falling apart, the room was tiny and the walls were so thin that I could hear the people in the next room passing wind!!

I did not stay the night and ended up leaving and paying for a BnB. I do not recommend this hotel..

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your feedback about our hotel. We always try to make our guests stay as pleasurable as possible, and would like to take this opportunity to apologise if your stay was not as comfortable as you had hoped.

The rooms are indeed small but for this very reason the prices for the stay are low. The information about the exact size of the rooms and the way they look like (virtual tour available) can be easily found and checked out on our website before making a reservation. The reason behind it is to make people familiar with the place and its philosophy that most of all stands for clean rooms (all with one double bed and a private bathroom), great location and very reasonable prices. These are our best features and we are always trying to bring the highest service standards along with it. We gladly take to consideration all the pointers given and we hope to improve anything that we can to make your future stay at Easyhotel more satisfactory.

Thank you for taking the time to share you experience with us and once again I apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The rooms are extremely small, we joked that it was a pod not a room- we chose a windowless budget one. Having said that, the location is perfect, right on Princes St, and a block from the West End. We stayed over Hogmanay so having a hotel at the street party location was ideal and choosing a windowless one meant that we had good nights' sleep as we couldn't hear the street noise. They also have a discounted breakfast a near by cafe, which was delicious.

The location alone sells this place. Located on Princes St, surrounded by shops, a 10 minute walk from Waverley Station and 15 mins from Haymarket, a short walk into the old town and it's hard to beat the location.

I booked a single room with no window. I got what I paid for and can't complain about that. The room is very very small, in my opinion too small for more than one person. The shower is almost too small to turn around in and the toilet is uncomfortably close to the door. The bed was lumpy and the walls paper thin and everything costs extra but that's to be expected from a budget hotel that never pretends to be anything but a budget hotel.

I would stay here again and I'd recommend it to a budget conscious single traveller.
