Owner description: Hidden beneath the Royal Mile lies Edinburgh’s deepest secret: a warren of hidden ‘closes’ where real people lived, worked and died. For centuries they have lain forgotten and abandoned…until now. Visit Edinburgh's most famous Close, which makes Edinburgh's Hidden History unmissable.

How boring, how full of poppycock and how expensive. No historical, archeological nor interesting info was given.
We felt embarrassed in the girl who "guided" us her place.
Maybe for children and gullable adults...

Visit was well worth the time. Guide was superb, he really got into the role of the merchant and kept it interesting. Great.

Good one hour tour but as usual in this city - quite expensive.
Tour guides dressed as people from the era trying to liven up what is really a set of very dark rooms. They could make much more of this attraction. There are tours of longer duration and possibly more detail.
Definitely worth a visit

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour down to the closes and really liked our tour guide Agnes who gave the whole experience a very authentic feeling. The stories kept me intrigued, especially the story of Annie (not for kids!) and the sad stories surrounding the Bubonic Plague. If you are interested in your history and not just thrills and chills then this is a great attraction. I learnt so much new information about Edinburgh that I had no idea about.

Pictures are allowed, but no flash photography, which is almost impossible since it's so dark, and I do agree that because of the price of the ticket the photo taken by staff underground should be included in the price.

Really enjoyed our time here - our guide was very knowledgeable.

It isn't the best attraction in Edinburgh - but it's deffinately worth a visit. For those shoppers out there, the gift shop was very good, plenty of goodies.
