We had a lovely stay here. Thanks to the comments made by other trip adviser contribttors we were aware that some building work was being done near the rear of the hotel which was proving noisy. After contacting the hotel we found upon check in that our room had a lovely outlook over Princes Street and the Scott Memorial. Whilst the hotel are under no obligation regarding allocation of rooms etc I felt that they certainly did their best for us.
Granted the hotel is showing its age, but it is an old building. While we were there it seemed that some carpets wre being replaced and the hotel always smelled fresh and clean. Our room was not the biggest but had everything that we needed for a couple of nights stay. The bed was ok although it seemed a little short in length! The bathroom was very clean without any trace of mould or discoloration at all. The location of course is excellent and to me is it's main selling point as it is perfectly placed near the railway station and the hustle and bustle of Princes Street with its many shops and attractions. Breakfast was fine and drinks in the hotel expensive as expected.More
