Well worth a visit, all staff polite and attentive.we stayed in the endurance suite. The additional cost to stay in the suite was well worth it just for the bathroom alone. Beautiful roll top bath and power shower.
Breakfast was buffet plus full english and supplements for fish dishes.
Dined in the restaurant , menu limited however food well presented and tasted good.
Overall an excellant stay and would love to return.
Just back from a 3 night stay at Channings and would definitely recommend this hotel! We stayed in one of the themed superior rooms, with an amazing bathroom and rooftop views over Edinburgh. The staff were the friendliest I've ever encountered, helpful with every request. The breakfast was fab with lots to choose from, definitely worth paying extra for if it is not included in your room rate. We did eat in the bar on our first night though and the food was fairly average. The hotel is a short walk from Edinburgh centre, around 10-15 minutes leisurely walk, but we were aware of this and it wasn't a problem.
Lovely hotel in a great location (15 minute walk to the centre of Edinburgh), friendly staff, good quality breakfast pipping hot!, only complaint would be the lighting in the bedroom was very dim 4 lamps but not enough to be able to apply my make up! comfortable bed could do with a new duvet and pillows (both feather but had seen better days) I stayed here with my husband for 2 nights in between Christmas and New Year and would love to return.
Very comfortable room with double bed which was two smaller beds zipped together. Nice bathroom with good sized bath and bubble bath provided too. Our room was at the back of the hotel and while there is not much of a view as other reviewers have said, it was very quiet.
Had room service which was efficient and the food good. The breakfast buffet had a good selection including fresh fruit and cheeses.
Altogether a very cosy hotel, in the traditional style, with good service.
This is our second visit to the hotel as we were so impressed by the last time that we felt we had to, but for longer! The location is great for exploring the centre of Edinburgh (only 10 mins walk away), but also the beautiful Stocksbridge shops and cafes.
Superb, hotel, lovely staff who even posted us back our phone charger which we left in the room!

We stayed here for my birthday (organised by my partner)... The hotel doesn't look very grand from the outside, however, inside its cosy, clean and quite upmarket.
The staff were all fantastically friendly and helpful.
The room was lovely-large, great view and nice bathroom with lovely shower. The only minor criticism with the room would be, as others have said, the two single quilts on a double bed and the pillows weren't great. However, I feel confident that this would have been easily resolved if we had asked.
The breakfast was good quality, good portion and prepared promptly. The coffee re fills were very attentive.
It was a reasonable walk into the city, but through pleasant residential streets. The 'village' area of stockbridge close to the hotel was really pleasant, lots of small restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and interesting little shops.
Fantastic, comfortable and relaxing stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - thank you!
