I got married at Channings in January 2010 and do not have a bad word to say about the whole experience from start to finish.

The hotel is beautiful, intimate and spotless. The staff could not have been more helpful, nothing was to much trouble and their memory for names amazing.

Many of our guests commented that in future business and leisure trips to Edinburgh they now knew where they would stay every time.

The location is central and the food was perfect, thanks for making our special day, very special indeed.

Lovely hotel off the beaten path. Bed and bath were huge, though room and TV small. More than I expected from a European/British hotel. Quiet street and very pleasant staff. Very good restaurant and bar in the basement that makes for a lovely place to have breakfast or a quiet night in. Only downside was we had our iPod stolen in the lobby. Were able to access WiFi from our second floor room. Computer with Internet available for use in the lobby, along with several maps and books. Staff was great about advice and getting taxis. City center is a good walk, but we did it several times. We felt safe at night; there were several people out and about.

The outside of Channings promises little, but once over the threshold this is forgiven! Staff are all welcoming and helpful from the off. Our room was huge for a city centre hotel with a large bathroom containing freestanding claw-foot bath..with loads of room! Breakfast was more than adequate, only shame was that "full Scottish" doesn't include haggis! It is a 10 minute walk to the end of Princes Street, and we managed a whole 3 day break just on foot, which is just as well as driving and parking in Edinburgh seems to be a challenge. We had one dinner in the hotel which was also excellent, well prepared, well presented and well served. We would definitely like to return. Taxi to the hotel from Waverley station in rush hour costs about 10 pounds, to Waverley in the early afternoon, only 7.

Stayed with a group of friends to attend a wedding.
The wedding reception was within the hotel and it was wonderful. Nadia and her staff organised everything and made it a very special day for the bride and groom.
The wedding meal and breakfast was excellent.
Beautiful surroundings and situated in a lovely area of Edinburgh.
The staff were absolutely fabulous - agree with previous reviews that The Channings is the friendliest hotel in Edinburgh.

The Channings hotel is located on a quiet side street to the North West of the city centre and has a very pleasant reception area with an open fire and comfy seating. The hotel has the look of a grand town house and is tastfully decorated. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room had excellent views to the north over the city from the second floor. The bathroom could have been a little larger, but it was nice and clean. The bed was comfy and the room nice and quiet.

We really enjoyed our stay, only 15 minute walk into the city centre which was very pleasant. All staff we came across were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Discovery Suite which was gorgeous - very comfortable bed, spacious and wet room bathroom roll top bath which had a cracking view. Breakfast was lovely, great choice and plenty of coffee offered. We drove up, the staff top up the meter to save you returning, we got a spot right outside the hotel. There is a computer that guests can use in the foyer free of charge which was handy. Everything about our stay was lovely, it was a very memorable trip for all the right reasons - I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for something a bit special and will be returning!
