we stayed on a one nighter to the theatre. Our room was number 24 on the first floor and although beside the lift there wasnt a sound. The room was large with super king bed beautifully decorated in traditional style and at the front of the hotel overlooking fettes. Large bathroom and molton brown products. Breakfast great. Staff are always first class. Great value and the best in this hotel group for value. Have syaed many times and hope to stay many times again.

I happened upon this hotel on Expedia. What a great find! The rooms are very stylish and comfortable. The reception area is beautiful with old world charm. The staff couldn't have been any nicer and so helpful in planning outings. I hated to leave! Would highly recommend this hotel.

Pros - lovely cosy reception etc, on-street parking free at weekend, free wi-fi, 10 min walk to Princess Street, nice breakfast and very helpful staff.
Cons - borderline shabby standard room and at £130 a night out of season(!) it's not value for money.
Needs some investment badly!

Stayed at Channings for 2 nights in September, arrived late on a Mon eve to a warm welcome. Hadn't mentioned we were on honeymoon on booking but when mentioned to Stuart after he'd checked us in 2 large glasses of champagne were swiftly delivered to our room and an Edinburgh must-do itinerary was provided too!
The bar food is fantastic - large portions and great value, just what you need after a long journey. Our room was very large with a lovely bathroom and a modern entertainment system and plenty of storage space. Breakfast was good and the on street parking was right outside the door (they even top up your car for you during the day while you're out sightseeing which is a nice touch). Only a 10 mins walk to city centre yet located in a quiet cobbled street far enough away for peace and quiet - a great find.

Excellent hotel has a lovely feel to it as soon as you walk through the doors with very tasteful decor. All the staff are lovely so helpful & obliging nothing was too much trouble. Has a very good bar & restaurant facility & the food quality & choice are excellent at reasonable prices.
Is in a good setting down a nice quiet road in a residencial area over looking private gardens & the view of an old traditional school in the background. The location is around a 10 -15 minute walk from the top of Princes Street, is on a uphill incline in places but not difficult along as you are reasonable fit & able bodied. The local buses no's 19,36,37 run from the top of the Street that will take you to Waverley Bridge where all the tour buses operate from. These are a great way of getting to see the city & finding your bearings they offer a number of different ticket deals. But if you are there for a few days i recommned the Royal ticket which gives you unlimited travel for 2 days & your entrance tickets to The Castle, The Royal Yacht Britannia & also Holyrood Palace very good value for money.

This is a delightful boutique hotel, created by connecting a row of Victorian houses. Like many British boutique hotels, the room was a little small (but only by US business hotel standards), but the bathroom was spacious; there was an excellent restaurant (great Scottish breakfasts); and it was quiet and peaceful. Indeed, although it is in a residential part of Edinburgh, it is only a 10-15 min stroll into the old city. All-in-all, a delight.

This hotel poses as a 4-star , but is really not even a 2-star hotel. The bedrooms show wear and tear. The shower is almost impossible to set and goes from freezing to scalding hot. Wahbasin doesnt drain.Going down for breakfast they serve a very bitter brew which they call "coffee".
Will not stay again and can not recommend.
