Stayed at the Mcdonald Holyrood on 18th & 19th August for business. Hadn't realised the "fringe festival" was on which was an added bonus!
The staff were excellent, very friendly and even gave us a £5 voucher towards the taxi as we were a couple of miles away from the office.
"Jason" behind the bar was an extremely polite young chap and made us feel right at home.
The rooms were of a high standard and had clearly recently been upgraded with a large walk in shower and immaculate decor
Breakfast was cooked to order which is so nicer than the "rubber" sausages you normally get at hotels these days when they are buffet style. I stayed in the Holiday Inn Edinburgh Zoo on business a few weeks earlier which wasnt a patch on the McDonald Holyrood.
We were also lucky that the majority of residents were retired Americans over for the festival/Tatoo so we had peaceful nights sleep
So why not 5 stars?
Not happy that "Haggis" not on the breakfast menu which I always enjoy in Edinburgh and the location not perfect for me as I prefer nearer grass market. You are by the Royal mile though and around the corner from Waverley station so not all bad.
I would have given 4.5 out of 5 if I could, well done Mcdonald Holyrood! for a great value relaxing stayMore
