“huge rooms, great location!”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

We stayed overnight at this great hotel after landing from the US. The front staff were able to accommodate an early check-in, and we took a nap on one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. The room was large, and the bathroom was well appointed, with both a shower stall and a clawfoot tub.

We had a family room - a twin and a double - and there was plenty of space for us. The location is perfect for traveling by foot if you're interested in walking about for a pint or a meal - we found 7 pubs within a short walking distance, and as many restaurants of all types.

Parking is scarce - they have a very small lot on first-come/first-served, but if you get one of those spots, it's no cost. We were lucky to grab one, and hence didn't drive out for dinner, choosing to keep the spot and walk instead.

The second floor where we stayed is not accessible - there are several "two steps up / two steps down" in the hallway, but otherwise it was perfect!

Room Tip: get a room at the end of the hallway as we did - not sure all the rooms are as big as ours was!

My wife and I stayed at the Bruntsfield 23-26 April and found the service, the rooms and the breakfast first rate and well worth the money. Rooms were impeccable, employees friendly and breakfast delicious and copious. At 105 GBP per night, we thought it was a great value. The rooms on the side of the hotel (away from the main street) were quiet and the beds very comfortable. Recommended!

The only drawback for some might be the fact that it's about a 15 minute walk to the center of town. As we were with another couple, we simply shared a taxi (they come very quickly and take about 5 minutes to get into the town center), when we didn't feel like walking. The cost was about 7 GBP. A bus ticket costs 1.40, so really not much difference for 4 people. There are also day tickets available for the buses, and they are convenient and frequent.

Room Tip: Rooms at side of hotel are the quieter

Faultless stay. Room very clean and comfortable. Service and staff efficient and friendly. Food good. If only they could have sorted the weather.

this was booked by my husband as a surprise for my birthday and i was not disappointed, /the room was spacious and clean with all the facilities you would expect. it was about a 10/15 min walk to centre. the breakfast was very tasty and was plenty of choice and was fresh and cooked to order. the only complaint i had was that the bar downstairs could not make a french martini and i had to complain but they dealt with it very well, they refunded the money for the cocktail and i chose another drink without charge, would recommend this hotel if staying in edinburgh as doesnt break the bank and is worth the money. the friends who were with us had a gorgeous room overlooking the castle and our room overlooked the park. another bonus was the car park which you dont tend to get and it was free. would certainly stay again next time i am in edinburgh

I booked at this hotel as a surprise for my husband's birthday last weekend and I just wanted to say what a great time we had at the Bruntsfield Hotel. The staff especially were great - so friendly and helpful. We were really pleased with our room which looked out towards the Meadows. The location is just outside the centre of Edinburgh but only a short walk into town and the main attractions, but a plus about this location is that you get to see a bit more of the city if you walk around a bit. Highly recommended!

My friend and I really enjoyed our recent stay at the Bruntsfield, gorgeous big room, beautiful bathroom, so clean and everything you could want from a hotel bedroom and all staff really friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back, loved the fact the room was cool during the night as we both had the best night's sleep for a while. thanks for a great experience, Susan

When we arrived at the Hotel we were greeted by a really friendly girl at the front desk, we were checked in very quickly and our bags were taken upto our room. Our room was lovely, big, clean and the beds were so comfy!!! It was a lovely family room with a smaller bedroom just off the main, which our 8 year old was thrilled with!
The staff at the front desk were fantastic, nothing was too much bother and they gave us some helpful hints to get round town and recommended some sights and restaurants. We weren`t disappointed.
The bar staff were lovely and they even carried all the drinks on a tray to our room. The breakfasts were delicious! Again the staff were so lovely ( even early in the morning! ) We really did have the perfect stay, the location of the hotel was perfect, just over a mile to the castle and the hotel was really quiet during the night. We didn`t hear people or traffic. We would use this hotel again next time we visit Edinburgh. I really couldn`t fault it!
