“Excellent choice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2008

The Bruntsfield is reasonably located for the centre city, being right on a bus route. The hotel has limited parking but we found no difficulties at all and arrival check-in was quick and efficient. I had asked for a room with an additional single bed for our daughter and was delighted to find our allocation consisted of a main bedroom with a smaller bedroom adjoining. My daughter was equally delighted as she had her own TV! We found the rooms to be spacious and comfortable (with plenty of pillows) and the bathroom had a separate bath (huge and ideal for a good soak) and walk in shower. You could hear the road when in the room but this is a busy city so noise is to be expected. Breakfast was a real treat as unlike many hotels the Bruntsfield does not offer a “serve yourself buffet” but a cooked to order menu that was served quickly and beautifully prepared, with fresh, good quality produce. Although the restaurant was busy it was totally under control due to efficient staff. Our stay at the Bruntsfield as short but enjoyable and it will definitely be our choice for the next visit to Edinburgh.

Well maintained hotel with an excellent bistro & bar. Opposite a lovely & well-used park leading straight into the city. Very pleasant & helpful staff.

Two minor points - the TV set was much too small for our large room; the road is fairly busy so although there was the convenience of location & a bus route, it tended to be a little noisy late into the evening.

My husband and I stayed at the Bruntsfield with our adult son in May. From start to finish our stay was a joy. The rooms were comfortable and the food in the bar and restaurant was great. Breakfast whether the continental or the cooked option was a fantastic start to the day. The bar staff were friendly and made a point to get to know house guests . All in all I would certainly stay here again. The hotel management and their staff are to be commended.

Having stayed in the hotel last year and had a great experience we decided to return again and were not dissappointed - standards have not slipped. I asked for the same bedroom as before and was pleased that we got it. The room is large and the bathroom above average size for hotels. Everything was spotless and the bed is so large and comfortable. We dined in the restaurant both nights and the food was off a good standard. The staff from receptionists, waiters and cleaners are all very pleasant. This time we had a car with us, and unlike a previous reviewer, we had no trouble parking on each occasion we returned to the hotel. It is a easy twenty minute walk into Edinburgh through the park opposite the hotel or buses pass by the front door. If in Edinburgh I will definately use the Bruntsfield again.

I stop in Edinburgh a few times a year on business, I've stopped in the usual Premier Inns, Holiday Inn Express dotted around central Edinburgh. For less money you can stop here in a lovely building with 'charactor' overlooking a park. The locality called Morningside is one of the cities most pleasant resedential areas. Approx 1 mile to walk to the Castle end of Princess Street - not a problem to most people. So to the hotel. Rooms seem to have been refurbished recently to a good standard with quality bathrooms. The bistro 'Bisque' serves decent food at very reasonable (for Edinburgh) prices - staff very friendly and professional - drinks prices at the bar also OK. Breakfast selection more than adequate, with the cooked choices waitress served. Oh and for those amongst you who feel like a limb has been severed without Email access there is free WiFi in public areas and cable connection in rooms. I stopped 2 nights - having checked out I had Email stuff to do - I was served complimentary coffee - I accepted the 3rd time I was asked by different members of staff - That's what I call good hotel service, you would never get this at the faceless chains. In conclusion I will return - P.S. I do not give good reviews very often....

This is a great hotel, stayed for one night 2 weeks ago, lovely room and bathroom, nice staff, free parking, frequent buses into the city. Only fault was that breakfast was a little greasy.

I stayed here with my boyfriend during a short break to edinburgh. I found this hotel wonderful. The receptionist was really friendly nad helpful, as were the other staff. The room was amazing, especially the bathroom which has his'n'hers sinks, a free standing bath with views over the city. It also had a large walk in shower. Everything was spotlessly clean.
We ate in the restaurant and found the food to be excellent. The breakfast was really good too.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. It is about a 10-15min walk from the centre but there are buses if you need.
The area around the hotel has some nice shops and cafes. We missed breakfast one day but found a deli just down the road that does excellent croissants. Morningside is just up the road, which has lots of small, individual shops and boutiques.
