My man worked in Edinburgh a few years back and we loved Bruntsfield's bars and restaurants back then.
This time he's here for work again and we were delighted to be put into the Bruntsfield House Hotel.
We have a fabulous room with great views over the city.
Huge bathroom with a central roll top - that was nice last night!
Breakfast was good, although the restaurant lacks the character of the rest of the hotel, I think it was modernised recently which probably meant replacing carpet with solid floors.
Wi-fi is good enough to work from and it's free.
Most important though are the people and they've all been great so far.
We're loving it here - now to explore Edinburgh...

Room Tip: Just ask for 211 - it's probably worth the premium.

This was a very nice hotel. Easy to get to if driving to edinburgh and even free parking! Get there earlyish though to ensure a place. Check in smooth. Staff friendly. The room was massive with a huge bed. Very comfy. We were right by the stairs but werent disturbed by noise overnight. Quite a distance from tge centre though a good 20-30 minute walk.

We arrived at this hotel for a three night stay and had read fabulous reviews on it,unfortunately we were disappointed with what we were met with. The decor of the toilets (when you could get them to flush!)and bedroom was very outdated. We found the bed sheets wear stained on our arrival and were not changed during our stay, instead the sheets had simply been turned round by housekeeping on day two!!! This wasn't a very pleasant thought! On day one we also found two pint glasses and empty bottles of cider left outside our hotel room door, which we presume had been left by the previous occupant and not removed. The breakfast selection although wide, was not particularly appetising, and two days in a row the cooked breakfasts we ordered were served with items missing, which we had to ask for again. In summary the hotel was average, not of a four star standard though and we felt not deserving of the money we had spent on it. However the receptionist was very helpful and the parks opposite provide a nice backdrop,it's just in need of some TLC!

Stayed here for one night. We got a free upgrade to a mini suite. It was a great nights sleep in an emperor sized bed. We got a room at the front with a great view over a park. Lovely big Georgian windows. Free parking was a bonus. Positioned in morningside so only a bus ride into town

We stayed at this hotel a few years ago and were quite pleased with the accommodations, so decided to come back to this same place when we visited Edinburgh recently. Still thrilled with the place!! It is in an older building but kept modern and functional and the decor is quite charming.
One of the main factors in originally choosing this hotel was that it had parking (traveling around Scotland w/ a car) and it was close to the historic part of Edinburgh. As this was the same situation this time, we were pleased to see that free available parking was offered again. The friendly, helpful front desk receptionist gave us a city map and showed us the best way to walk to town so we could keep the car parked. Had a pleasant 15 min walk to the castle area.
Our rooms and bathroom were very large and very clean and tidy. Our room had a separate sitting area from the bed section, which was delightful. The bed was comfortable with adequate sturdy pillows provided. There was a large standing fan provided, but we did not need it. The bathroom was nearly as large as the sitting room. The shower unit was small, like a little cubicle, but that didn't matter to us.
The hallways are a little scattered and confusing, but once you figure out the way to get to/from your room, it is not a problem. The lobby area is quite nice and comfortable and they often have biscuits (cookies) and coffee out. Enjoyed both the restaurant for dinner and the bar area for afterwards---great service and food. The breakfast buffett had several options and was nice as well.
We would definitely stay at this charming hotel when we are in Edinburgh again. It has everything we need!
