We stayed here for 2 nights for a short break to Edinburgh. The hotel itself is a lovely building surrounded by nice gardens and the inside is beautifully decorated. We arrived around lunch time and were greeted by a very friendly receptionist. Although we arrived a couple of hours before the specified check-in time, the staff made our room up immediately upon our arrival and gave us drinks in the bar area during the short wait. The room was stylishly decorated and very comfortable, with a nice en suite and Molton Brown toiletries. Breakfast was good. The hotel has a bus stop immediately outside and takes no more than 5 minutes to get to the centre, although as we were blessed with very sunny weather we walked into town a couple of days and it took about 10-15 minutes. Overall a very pleasant stay and would stay here again when returning to Edinburgh.

We stayed here for 2 nights with a couple of friends during our trip to Edinburgh. The location is not bad at all considering that there is a bus stop right outside their door, the nearest restaurants are near the haymarket station which is about a 7-8 min walk.
We reached mid afternoon but were told to wait till 3 :( as the rooms weren't ready, had a quick meal and came back to our rooms. The room we got was on the 1st floor and it was smaller than we were expecting, however it was comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff were always very polite and helpful and it seems the same set of people manage the reception as well as the restaurant, so must compliment their efficiency. The breakfast was quite good on both the days, we even had dinner one night which was pretty good...so thumbs up to the chef.
All in all a comfortable stay.

Hi there

Thank you so much for your review! I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. You are correct we do have some smaller double rooms - these are our petite doubles but we also have Ctiy doubles, deluxe doubles and luxury doubles too so if you would like something bigger next time it is not a problem.

The staff here are wonderful and get so many good comments so I am glad you picked up on this. they like to help out where they can and so you will see the same faces around in different areas of the hotel.

Lastly - I will pass on your comments to chef! He will be so chuffed!

Thanks

Samantha

Was very impressed with the Dunstane city hotel, very spacious twin room (202) although we were facing onto the main road, the traffic noise was not excessive even with the windows open. Lovely bathroom, nice big bath! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, we felt very welcome. The city hotel also has an honesty bar, which I think is a fantastic idea, and very convenient (maybe a bit too convenient!! Haha) it's situated in a lovely lounge area, which is very relaxed. Will definitely be booking to come back to the dunstane, cannot recommend it enough!

A great hotel and highly recommended. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the hotel itself beautiful and spotlessly clean. Its located on a main road but set back from the traffic, and public transport into the centre of Edinburgh is excellent. If you decide not to use public transport, its only around a 15 minute walk into the centre. Breakfast choices are great and we would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.
