Arrived Thursday 17th March 11.30am expecting to have to leave luggage at reception, very pleased to hear room available. Room was nice and clean not the best of views but was happy not to be overlooking the street as it was St Patricks Day and the pubs were very busy and noisey. I have to say the bed as comfortable but the pillows were awful far to soft and full of air. The location of this hotel is very good, but would advise to bring good walking shoes as I was unware that Edinburgh was so hilly, with lots of alleyways and steps ( and I mean lots!!!) but good fun finding out all the short cuts through them but tuff on legs. Did Bus Tour, Edinburgh Castle, and Britannia which were well worth doing, also went to Georgian House in Charlotte Sq (very good nice ladies with lots of info about the house) and we did a Witcherty and Caddies evening walking tour which was very good fun and the ghost guide was very knowledgable of the local history and his ghost partner jumped out at us a few times on route. Would have done Holyrood Palace but no time, will save that for the next visit along with so many other museums, churches and alleyways. All in all and very good 3 days break. One tip get the Airlink bus from outside Airport Terminal into Edinburgh City Centre £6 return takes 30 mins and buses run every 10 mins.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my wife. Great location in the middle of everything. Arrived to a blonde receptionist, not a Scottish accent, who hardly aknowledged our existence. very impersonal and didn't even tell us our room number, only to say it was on the second floor! she said nothing of breakfast/dinner options or any facilities withion the hotel. our room was basic with a view of delapadated buildings outside.
we met a very pleasant and helpful, dark haired chap in the lounge both evenings.
this hotel offers all the basics, with little extra and some staff should remember that it is the customer who pays their wages and deserves courtesy and customer service as a result.

My Husband and I booked last minute for an overnight stay in Edinburgh as we needed to chill out away from home and work. The Hotel was fantastic, staff very friendly, our room had a view of the Castle and the room was 1st Class. Bed was enormous as was bathroom. We had a great stay and visited the local pubs at night and shops and Castle in morning. Breakfast was great, all in all I would highly recommend this Hotel.

We had access to Apex International Car Park and also their Leisure facilities but did not use them. We will do next time.

I've been here a few times before on business but this is the first time in a looong long time to stay purely for pleasure and it most certainly was! The reception staff are friendly and welcoming - Leeanne, Sarah, Magda and Andrea were all lovely and helpful. The bar staff were also very sweet to an enthusiastic lone traveller, beds were comfortable and the tv was better than mine at home! The location of this hotel is perfect - virtually next door to the Castle and walking distance of some fabulous eating places (look out for the little gems in the side-streets) as well as easy access to all the attractions of a very nice city. Even the weather was kind so a great trip!

Booked this hotel a couple of days before travel and got a good deal. It is in a great location - plenty of shops, cafes and bars opposite the hotel and it is only a short walk (less than 5 mins) to the Royal Mile. You could walk from the train station (10-15mins) but we chose to get a taxi as we had our bags with us. Reception staff on arrival were polite and friendly and hotel was clean and spacious. Our room was a good size with optional free wifi available. It was clean and tidy with tea/coffee making facilities, desk, flat screen tv, en suite with walk in shower and lovely decor. The view wasn't great (overlooking a side street - could only see a glimpse of the castle) but we did book late and afterall we weren't going to be in the room all the time. It was brilliant that we could use the facilities at the Apex International hotel, where we used the swimming pool. Lovely to be provided with towels and very tranquil although it was quite busy with children as it was half term. We chose not to have breakfast as we thought it was a bit expensive but there were plenty of cafes nearby to go. Rooms did have air conditioning although we did still find it quite warm during the night. Overall it was a beautiful hotel with friendly staff and in a great location - would definately recommend for a short city break!

Due to a customer meeting for 3 days had to go to Edinburgh in October and client booked us in Apex City hotel behind the famous Edinburgh Castle. I had been to Edinburgh earlier and hence quite like the place and have an idea about the city and streets.
Hotel turned out to be a contemporary hotel with a bit of culture in it, good ambience...located on a busy street with loads of pubs and food joined opposite...so good that ways.
My room was sub ground level and hence the window was opening just on the streets at same level, that was not good. However internet was free and rooms were large and comfortable.
Breakfast was good with few vegetarian options and hence I like the hotel. Waiting lounge overlooks the street and is a comfortable seating.
Location was not convenient for me since office was £15 way from office, but in general location is good...a 10 min walk from princess street in town center with very good view all over.
I must recomment this, with 80-100£ per night budget minded people with good hotel in return.

Recently stayed at the Apex City for two nights, and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. All staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Food, both breakfast and evening meal, was excellent; and the location is ideal. Very much liked the Grassmarket area and all its restaurants, cafes etc.
Room was spacious, only minor gripe was bathroom was a little smelly (drain problem?)., if not for that would have been 5/5. Would definately recommend.
