I had my best stay ever in Edinburgh with the help of free upgrades, perfect location, fabulous personal service by the restaurant staff and even the housekeepers. Would definitely return and recommend my friends to stay here

Stayed here for one night on business. The receptionist was very charming and efficient but obviously thought I looked decrepid as I was given a disabled room on the 4th floor. The room was at the back so avoided the noise issues reported in other reviews but it was incredibly hot with no aircon. There were two windows in the room but the blind on one had actually fallen down. The disabled room meant no bath, just a wet room and a washbasin set at a very strange height for an able bodied person. There was a huge kettle to brew tea and coffee but it was too big to fill from the basin! On the plus side, the huge bed was very comfy and there was free bottled water as well as the tea and coffee.
Breakfast service was very efficient with a big choice but the quality of the cooked items was poor.
I got a very competitive rate and was happy enough at that price but if I'd paid £100+ I'd have been giving someone some serious earache.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review. I have noted the problems you experienced with your broken blind and the kettle being too large and will ensure that they are rectified immediately. My apologies you did not enjoy your cooked breakfast but am pleased that you liked the large selection on the breakfast buffet. Most important I am glad you found your bed to be very comfortable and hope that you will return to us again in the near future.

i stayed here for just one night and i had a great experience.
We were upgraded to a superior room for free. The view was amazing and we could see the castle. The bed was very good, the room clean and comfy, the bathroom big and nice.
There's free wifi and when I had problems connecting with my laptop, they called a super assistance that helped me. great!
The staff at the check in is so kind and gentle and I was sorry to bother those ladies (that of course rush in to help) they always had a smile for any request.
The tv in the room is huge!

the only weak point is the noise, but the location is amazing so... put on the earplug that the hotel gives you for free and enjoy!

The Apex in the Grassmarket couldn't be better-located for staying in this beatoful city. It's a clean, contemporary hotel, priced somwhere between the old grand dammes of the big Edinburgh hotels and the 1000s of cheap backpackers. The Grassmarket is walking distance to shops, pubs, restaurants, museums, the castle. BUT it's also host - more or less every night - to revelers enjoying Edinburgh's lively entertainment scene. It's NOISY. And therefore a room overlooking the back of the hotel, not the castle/Grassmarket is imperative.

Room Tip: Rear of hotel - trade less nice view for sleep. Important.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to review the Apex City hotel. I was pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. Being in the very heart of the City centre can mean that some of our front facing rooms may suffer a little from street noise at the weekend, but do benefit from spectacular views of the castle. For those that prefer a quiet room we have many bedrooms at the back of the hotel that are exceptionally quiet and we are always happy to allocate one of these rooms should a guest have a preference.
