“A superb B & B - very clean and welcoming.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2012

This is one of the best B & Bs we have stayed in. We have been about 5 times now to their 3-day theatre breaks. Anne-Marie, David and Richard are all extremely welcoming, helpful and we just love going. David cooks a wicked breakfast.!! The hotel is very clean, warm and comfortable. It is quiet at night. Just left there this morning and are working on our next trip already. It is only 10 minutes from the city and there is a bus stop across the road so we leave our car at the Allison and use the buses. Many thanks once again - simply the best.

Stayed 4 nights. Wonderful accommodation. Location bit far from City Centre but then buses to and from Centre run every few minutes from front of hotel. Cant say enough about the breakfast. Fresh fruit was out of this world. Regular Scottish breakfast simply delicious. Thanks to Richard as well. Owner was gracious and very helpful. Information he provided was a real help, especially information he provided about buses. Thanks to you at Allison House Hotel for making our stay in Edinburgh so enjoyable and memorable.

Room Tip: As retired senior citizens the owner gave us the downstairs spacious room.

Very clean and staff all helpful. Everything you need is in the room. Short bus ride from city centre. Only limited parking on site - this is the only disadvantage. Fabulous breakfast - excellent value for money. I would highly recommend it and will be staying here again .

My boyfriend and I stayed in Allison for five days and I have to say that it was a great place. The location was nice and quiet yet not far from the city centre. The rooms were clean and the staff was very polite, especially Richard. The breakfast was simply delicious , loved the selection of fruit!I would definitly go back!

Easy off road parking at the front. Welcome includes two small decanters of sherry/whisky in the room - a very nice touch & consumed quickly ! Fantastic breakfast in a wonderful period dinning room with a huge range of fresh fruit (+ raspberries & blueberries), cereals, yoghurts and a great choice of fresh cooked food. Breakfast staff very hospitable and friendly. Rooms are small and v cosy with a good hot shower and great towels. Full length room curtains are very impressive but a bit dusty at the top. We will use this B&B every time we are in Edinburgh. At Christmas time a huge Christmas tree welcomes you in the entrance and a smaller tree in the dining room. Thanks

Room Tip: Easy access to Holyrood park & palace, walking on Arthur's seat and the Salisbury Crags.

One of the best breakfast selections I’ve seen in a long time. In fact, the selection available would put many more expensive hotels to shame. The hotel is situated a short bus ride from the centre of the city on a main road. There is a bus stop just outside and you can buy a bus pass for the day from the hotel which gives you unlimited bus travel on local buses. The buses go every few minutes into the centre of town. The hotel was clean and spacious. Our room was very nice and came with complementary whisky and brandy to try.
Just up the road from the hotel is a nice selection of restaurants and pubs if you don’t want to venture into town for an evening meal.
I would stay at this hotel again.

We stayed for two nights at the end of the Edinburgh Fringe. I was really impressed. The hotel is very conveniently situated- you can walk in 25 mins from the city centre- it's just a straight line. There are also about 8 buses that stop really close by too.

Our room was clean with everything that you would expect, plus a complimentary whisky, which is a nice touch. The matresses perhaps were in need of upgrading since we both had quite sore backs, but this was a minor issue in the wider context of the hotel. Breakfast was better than I have seen in various 4 star hotels(!) and the staff were friendly too. A happy stay.
