Description: The Bridge Inn at Ratho is situated on the banks of The Union Canal, 7 miles to the west of Edinburgh in the picturesque village of Ratho. Graham and Rachel Bucknall took over the Bridge Inn in 2010 and have undertaken an extensive refurbishment project to maximise the space and to create a beautiful restaurant overlooking the canal, a terrace over the water, as well as four beautiful bedrooms and a cosy fire lit bar.We pride ourselves on not just producing great food, but also on working with our suppliers to give you the best of Scottish produce. Our menu is put together by our Head Chef Ben and changes with the seasons. We always feature our ever popular pub favourites, like fresh haddock with hand-cut chips or our pie of the week. The restaurant features venison, hake, pigeon, salmon and hand-dived scallops alongside our beautiful 35-day hung beef. In season we have locally-shot game.We grow and rear much of our own produce, and our Head Chef Ben and our gardener Charlie work together to put the freshest food on your plate - often the same day it was picked. Our walled garden, 200 yards along the canal towpath, produces the freshest seasonal vegetables throughout the year. We grow our own carrots, potatoes, leeks, spinach, cabbages, salad leaves and much more. Our own apples and rhubarb are used in our crumble - even our own nettles, delicious in our homemade nettle soup.We breed our own saddleback pigs, who live outside in the fresh air and are looked after by all the family - we know that a happy pig produces the tastiest meat. You will regularly find our menus featuring pork loin, fillet, belly, sausages and crackling, all from our own pigs.

Being lucky enough to live fairly locally to the bridge inn we really do take it for granted.

We have eaten here many a time and it never fails to be brilliant! The staff are cheery & knowledgeable and the atmosphere friendly & relaxed.

As well as the varied menu there are always seasonal specials which the head chef will be happy to come out and chat to you about if your struggling to decide! (Which we often are)

Doggies are very welcome and rightly so often get their bowl of water before us humans .... in fact when heading to the canal for his walk our dog pulls like a train to get in to the pub!!

We also have a particularly fussy 9 yr old who has deemed this place his favourite restaurant cause it has the best sausages in the world!!

My personal favourite is the fillet steak which never fails to be cooked to perfection but there are lots of great dishes to choose from!

Fabulous place that is well worth a visit!!

Thank Gordon P

We had a big group 3 course meal here for about 26 ladies on Easter weekend. It was a sunny weekend and we sat out in the beer garden for the afternoon. It's a lovely setting overlooking the canal. Great service and beautiful food. Being such a large group didn't seem to phase the staff at all. Highly recommended!

My husband and I were flying from Edinburgh Airport, staying at the Travelodge the night before our flight, we had a lovely meal here, steaks with all the trimmings. Food was amazing and the service was great. Will definitely be back.

We had Easter Lunch here took the bus from Princes Street X12 to Ratho. Half an Hour journey. I would advise booking a table as its a popular place for both Lunch and Dinner. Seating outside with a view of the Canal. Bus stops outside the Inn so it very good for the elderly and infirm. Lovely warm surroundings and very friendly young staff. Bright and busy restaurant. I had Fish and Chips batter was divine I had fries with mine as I am not a fan of the large jenga size chips.
Chocolate Brownie for dessert. The only thing I would say is why restaurants don't push the boat out for the Vegetarians its always seems to be the same old same old. Wine is pricey but that is not unusual nowadays. Worth it for a Romantic evening or a Lunch outside and then a stroll along the canal to work it all off.
