“Elegant stay at Edinburgh”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

The Edinburgh capital hotel was an elegant choice of hotel in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. The staff is cordial and the amenities are more than satisfactory at the given price. We stayed here for just one night, and di not have enough time to enjoy all that the hotel has to offer. The breakfast was not exactly as good as expected, but the spread was adequate. The room was a garden view room and the view was spectacular. The only negative point is its location with respect to the city, which is a bit far, and it takes about 40mins to reach Princes street, which is the city centre.

Dear Reviewer,

Thanks for the feedback, always pleasing to read that our guests have had a pleasurable experience, not sure which route you took into the City but it usually takes about 25 min on the bus or about 15 to drive.

Thanks for sharing.

Stayed here on a dinner/bed and breakfast basis,Reception staff friendly and helpful, meals were fantastic ,room was lovely but could hear other guests walking around above because of very creaky floorboards, hotel outside city centre but bus stop just around the corner and was a bargain at £3.50 for a day ticket, would stay here again.

We stayed at Edinburgh Capital in 2004 and did't have much time to enjoy all the facilities. We booked this hotel for our 1st night because it was close to the airport (we knew that we would be tired by then) and we trusted the Best Western brand.
We ate well at the hotel bar, the staff was great, and slept very good and cosy. Excellent first night in Scotland and comfortably recovered our energy to start the adventure. I remember that the price was a bit higher than it's competition.

Dear Reviewer,

Glad that you decided to share your experiences of the hotel some years ago, we really are a good option in regards to the airport, we are however no longer associated with the Best Western Brand, having said that we have invested significantly in the property since 2003, so why not come back and check us out, I am confident you will find the new look to your liking.

Kind Regards

We stayed in this hotel from 25 - 28 October 2013. The three of us had a wonderful time - hotel was clean, modern and staff were very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed great food, drink and using the swimming pool. The bus stop is round the corner from the hotel and the bus took only 20 mins to get into the centre of Edinburgh which was great! I would recommend this hotel to anyone to stay in:)

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are really quiet (we stayed in one)

Asked for room at the back of hotel away from road at time of booking. Was put at the front. Room looked ok but was so hot and stuffy we had to have the windows open the entire stay and the noise from the busy road was very irritating. Floor boards really creaky throughout the room. Shower kept going cold and then boiling hot continuously. Asked for ironing board to be sent to the room, after an hour of waiting had to call reception again. When the iron finally arrived it need not have done as it was totally useless. Room service trays with left over food on them left in the corridor from Friday night until Monday morning. Bar staff constantly moaning to one another about not having had a break. Breakfast awful, £10 for buffet breakfast, had to wait 5 minutes for bacon and sausages to come out only for them to be gone in seconds and have to wait another 5 minutes, no glasses for juice which when we finally got glasses was warm. On the whole pretty poor, I only decided to stay based on it's overall rating but from our experience I'm left wondering if we was at the same hotel. If you are a couple looking for a romantic get away in Edinburgh (which is a fantastic beautiful city) then avoid this hotel and stay in the city center. The bus service is frequent but it can take 20 or more minutes to get into the city centre.

Dear Reviewer.

Extremely disappointing to read that we have on this occasion clearly failed to provide you with the enjoyable experience noted by many other guests as represented by the vast majority of other reviews on Trip Advisor.

I would however like to thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback as I will personally review each of your points with the management team, and take corrective measures to insure the consistent delivery of service standards.

Kind Regards

Great hotel for a short stay!! Some of the decor in the main areas was a bit tired but the room was lovely and very clean... Handy bus stop just round the corner. Pool and gym area was very nice and we made full use of it. The great thing about this hotel is there is plenty of parking and this is a massive bonus as trying to park anywhere in Edinburgh can be a nightmare.. Meals were fantastic and if you take advantage of the early dining deal you won't be disappointed. £10.95 for 2 courses!! They looked just as good as other diners meals who were eating off of the full menu!! Recommend this hotel..

Bar, restaurant and reception very stylish, corridors and rooms are not. Bar staff (mainly young students) were rude, inexperienced and not very attentive.
The neighbouring bedroom's room service tray was left outside in the corridor for over a day and a half which was disgusting.

Breakfast is rushed, understaffed and over priced (£10 each) so wouldnt reccommend.

Bedroom was also very noisy as it was next to the main road, so when booking try to get a back room.

The hotel was clean (apart from smelly bath towels) and was great value for money and I would recommend for a cheap nights stay (although it is far from city centre).
Staff were also friendly and helpful.
