The stay at hotel was lovely. It was clean; I am very particular about bathrooms and the bathroom was spotless.
The food was great and the services also. The first day we arrived the receptionist was not as friendly as I would have liked, there was another girl the next day who was very good.
Easy access to town on bus 26.
The only thing I did not like about the room was that we could hear everything from the next room.

stayed here as a family of four for four nights during feb half term, found all the staff friendly and helpful, nothing was a problem for them, even a good morning from the maid most days, the room was superb, large room and huge comfortable bed, although pillows were firm, this was my only letdown otherwise 11 out of 10, the views we had of the mountains and forth bridge were fantastic, used the pool most days, changing rooms were clean and well equipped, plenty of showers, lockers, hairdryers etc. never used the gym but looked good too. we were room only but we tried breakfast there one of the days which was great, the bread especially nice, fairly quiet and relaxed was £10 per adult, but kids eat free which makes it a good price. overall the hotel seemed as good as a 4* Hilton or similar if not better, but the price a lot lower making it really great value, buses running past the hotel frequently and Edinburgh easily accessible by car too. a great base for exploring or a city break. overall a very clean & friendly hotel. would definiately stay again if up that way.

Room Tip: we had room 217,rear of hotel 2nd floor excellent views.

Dear Reviewer,

Thanks for the detailed feedback, very pleasing to read that the team and all our facilities including the pool went down well with you.

In regards to the pillows, which really is a personal preference, its because of this we have implemented a "pillow menu" that way guests can pick the right one for them, as we really do want our guests to have a great nights sleep!

Thanks again for the comments and the 5 star rating.

First visit to this hotel and it wont be the last. Stayed 7th-8th Feb '14 and the staff and hotel were very good. the breakfast certainly set us up for the days out in Edinburgh as every thing any guest could want was avaliable and the breakfast times werevery relaxed. We recently stayed at the Sheraton in Edinburgh and the Capital was just as good and better value for money

My friend and I stayed from 7th to 9th feb, as we were going to a show in the city. From the time we checked in to when we checked out was fantastic. All the staff were so friendly and nothing was a problem to them. If we wanted a taxi we only had to ask and it arrived whe we asked for it. On the saturday we used the pool and steam room which was fab. We ate in the bar and the food was great, breakfast was good as well. Even though the hotel is a bit out of town would recommend to anyone, luved our stay. Thanks to all the staff.

Great to read that the team were noted as a highlight of your stay and that they were friendly this is exactly how it should be.

Also pleasing to read that the facilities were well used by yourself and that the food was good in both the restaurant and at breakfast.

Glad you “Luved” it.

My boyfriend and I stayed here recently, we would usually stay in the city centre but as it was the eve of the Scotland v England match everywhere was booked up/really expensive.
We only paid £69 for our room which was the first bonus and it's a nice change to have free car parking. However, when we arrived we were rushed in by the reception staff, the lady did not really try to make any conversation and just seemed to want to get rid of us, similarly, when we were checking out we did not even get asked if we had a good stay. This is a shame and a let down as the rest of the staff, especially the young lads at the bar, were really friendly.
Our room was spacious and really clean, but really really warm! We turned the radiator off completely which didn't help it was like a sauna, and we ended up sleeping with the windows open which is odd in February, leading to an uncomfortable and pretty sleepless night.
We didn't have breakfast, although we did eat at the bar for dinner. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food is quite nice, if a little over priced for a bar menu.
We were looking forward to staying here and trying somewhere new, however we were left feeling quite disappointed as this hotel didn't meet expectations and was pretty average!

Dear Reviewer,

Pleased to read that the room rate and parking were to you liking. However its disappointing to read that your experience on check in and check out were not reflective of our usual standard I will certainly speak with the team members involved, despite this being a hectic rugby weekend this should not be used as an excuse for hurried service. Glad that the bar team looked after you. In regards to the heating, we do have radiators in each room, and these are thermostatically controlled so not sure why you could not get a ambient temperature. We regularly check our local competitors in regards to bar food and it surprises me that you would regard our prices as expensive.

Thanks gain for your detailed feedback.

Simon

Just back from a 1 night break for the Rugby - England v's Scotland at Murrayfield and have nothing but praise for hotel and the ALL the staff who work there. It has to be one on the friendliest hotels my hubby and I have ever stayed in and we are both well travelled.

Plenty free parking and a nice warm welcome at reception. Our room was very spacious (101) and spotless clean, bed very comfortable. We have stayed in 4 star hotels with less room! Another bonus was the free internet access and a large tv on wall with a good range of channels including sky.

We ate in the bar and can recommend the food with a great atmosphere from all levels of staff exceptional customer service, and fab personalities which made our stay. The hotel serves and wide selection of food / beverages and breakfast was one of the nicest we have every had with great views and again very friendly nothing to much trouble.

We walked to and from Murrayfield and it was about 2 miles so not far from centre and great base to explore Edinburgh.
This hotel has to be one of Edinburgh's hidden secrets! We would definitely recommend for a nice chilled break or Rugby weekend!
