Landed in Edinburgh early in the morning and enquired about leaving our bags at the hotel until check in but they gave us our room for the three day stay. It was about a twenty minute bus ride to the city centre and the facilities were brilliant. The food was really good and i could not recommend this hotel highly enough.

Dear Reviewer,

Very pleasing to read your review and glad that we were your chosen hotel for your first time in Edinburgh.

The Reception team will always try to accommodate guests with early arrival times when it comes to luggage and on this occasion having your room available before the check in time, so pleased that we could do this for you.

Thanks for the feedback and for highlighting the food and accommodation as being to your liking.

Cant ask for more than a firm recommendation and hope to welcome you back on your next trip.

Regards

Simon and Team

We stayed as a family 30th July - 1st August for a wedding. The family room we were allocated (135) was huge even with a bed, sofa bed and bunk beds in and we were very pleased with it.
We ate in the hotel restaurant for both lunch and dinner and loved the menu, breakfast was good too!
Hotel is well out of the way but has an excellent bus service at the door to go into the city.
I do have to agree with some of the negative comments regarding the reception staff, however the bar staff were extremely friendly and great fun!
Our kids made good use of the hotel pool and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Good points ,room was clean and comfortable price was good value as booked miles in advance. Staff in restaurant were very good helpful and attentive food was decent and well priced as were the drinks . Location bit out of the way but excellent bus links to city. Bad points the sullen receptionist who remained unhelpful and just shy of rude all week luckily the other reception staff were lovely. No air con in a dingy room not helped by lights not working but at least a fan was provided when requested. Large crack in sink and toilet handle nearly off wall shabby carpets but clean and comfy beds. Pool out of action for two days and sullen receptionist not at all bothered or apologetic. If you get the right room and staff you will have a pleasant stay if you don't and you let it bother you it will spoil your break . Avoid room 184.

Room Tip: Avoid 184 and prob room above and below

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for your detailed and informative feedback, understandably its disappointing to read that you encountered several maintenance issues during your stay and this is simply not good enough on our part, please do accept my apologies for this, regarding the pool this is a rare occasion that has forced us to close the pool down for essential maintenance, thankfully this really does not happen often.

Even more disappointing to read are your comments regarding the receptionist, this is certainly not our usual standard to be expected.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Normally we stay at in the city centre when we visit Edinburgh, however on a Saturday during the Fringe Festival our usual hotels were not available. This hotel is well outside the city centre however a friendly cleaning lady advised us that the no. 26 bus could get us in and out of the city. The bus service was also very reliable. Our room was clean with all amenities we needed, however the paintwork, grouting etc is tired and could benefit from a lick of paint and re-grouting. The hotel was very busy, with a wedding on so I think the hotel was at capacity. The fitness centre was good with a well equipped gym. I did not see a member of staff in the gym the whole time I was there (Sunday 3rd Aug 7.40am to 8.20am) however as I did not need assistance I was happy to enjoy the gym on my own. The highlight was breakfast on Sunday morning which was an excellent buffet selection and it was well run considering how busy the hotel was. Overall a good stay, hopefully the hotel rooms will enjoy a refurbishment soon.

Room Tip: Room 56 lower ground with patio window - quite nice but rooms on 2nd/3rd floors may be nicer

Dear Reviewer,

Thanks for the feedback, naturally its disappointing to read that you found the upkeep of the room in terms of grouting to be below your expectations, and our maintenance team will be dealing with the issues noted by you this week as a priority.

The missing Gym team member surprises me as the club is manned daily, I have however asked that our Club Manager to look into this further, as you should certainly expect to see one of the team carrying out their usual duties.

Delighted that you have noted the breakfast as being a strong point.

Kind Regards

We stayed at the hotel for our nephew's wedding in July. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and the bed extremely comfortable. Although not in the city centre, public transport was available and taxis were not exorbitant. The restaurant offered a good selection of well prepared and well presented food and the breakfast each day was superb. We would definitely return to this hotel for our next visit to Edinburgh

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking rear of hotel quieter.

Stayed a couple of days here recently and overall a good experience. Reception staff were very friendly and informative, liked the information sheet they gave us with the times etc and the weather forecast, nice touch. Room was plenty big enough for 3 of us and clean. We had dinner which was reasonably priced and a good quality. Breakfast were excellent with lots of choice, few more Danishes would have been nice. Swimming pool a decent size although I didn't use it the Gym also looked good. Make sure you get a room at the back as you get a lot of noise from the road, and with no air can you need the windows open. If you like to be out the city then this Hotel is spot on, buses run round the corner from the Hotel all day every 15 minutes or so and go right into Princes Street. One tip, make sure you have the correct fare as no change is given.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back
