“Nice Hotel with character”
Reviewed 3 August 2013

Stayed here on a business trip. Lovely hotel with pleasant staff.

Parking could be better, I had to park in a private car park 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Parking is aggravated at present though due to the on-going tram works taking place in Edinburgh. There is parking outside on the meter but you have to be sharp in the morning as the traffic wardens enjoying hitting the residents parking at 8:30am. I've seen them on previous stays preparing a string of tickets from 8:10am in anticipation of hitting their bonus by lunch :-)

I would recommend this hotel as it is close to the city centre.

The worst hilton ever been to. If you are planning to stay at this place, reach after 3pm, coz before 3pm and after 12pm next day you are not welcome. Would keep your luggage and were told our luggage will be in our room when its ready so we can go around the city, which wasn't done when we were back. Being a hotel in a tourist city, you can strike a conversation, ask the guest where they are heading, give suggestions about the city, attractions, so was sad at helping guests. Especially the Reception staff look disinterested in customer service just answer when you ask a question.

Why do u stay in a hotel ? to Sleep !!!
We complained about the bed being very squeaky, making noise when you get in or get out of it. I cant believe any other person staying in that room has ever complained about it. the receptionist said the rooms are not ready so cant move us, but could have done once they were ready ? She said she was sorry and would let the duty manager know, so i guess the duty manager knew but no one ever got back to us. Attached a pic of the toilet....its like a long mile to reach the WC, funny though.

So our 2 day holiday in Edinburg was in shame at the stay at this hotel. Very tired hotel.

the breakfast food, staff and service was the best. but never go to stay there. better hotels around the city please.

Our first night back in Edinburgh... only booked for one night due to Trip Advisor reviews. Quite honestly, it was really good! The room was clean, the breakfast much more than adequate -- the staff, exceptional! The tram construction isn't the hotel's fault -- and it was quiet at night. Don't pass on this property... wish we were staying here longer!

Room Tip: We're not in the townhouse side of things, but in the main hotel! It IS hot and no air conditio...

Upgraded as a Gold member to a King sized corner room. Hotel was Hilton quality - clean, friendly service, easy access and good location in Edinburgh. Great business hotel. Bed was a little hard for my taste.

Great location. The hotel is located in quiet street just around the corner from Haymarket station. The streets are lined with classic high-ceilinged elegant terraces and crescents. A pleasant ten minute walk to Princes Street. Very easy to get to from the airport because the efficient (every 10 minutes) Airlink bus service stops just round the corner from the hotel and you're on the rights side of town to avoid the city centre traffic.

My single room was comfortable with good facilities. It was pretty small but, as a single room, it was absolutely fine. Nothing particularly excitnig about the decor or the room, but, as with all Hiltons and similar hotel brands, they're never going to be particularly interersting.

My room was a little overheated and stuffy and i couldn't open the window more than an inch. The lighting included a long flurescent tube above the bed and one of those awful LED reading lights that gives off the harshest blue light... doesn't really create a calm evening atmosphere. Some of the carpet and door fittings looked a little tired and scruffy.

Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful.

The breakfast was good. The hotel has a large spatious foyer area with newspapers, leather chairs, a Costa coffee. A pleasant place to pass some time.

Does exactly what you want from a Hilton hotel. Good location, comfortable, but it's never giong to be the most memorable hotel to stay in.

This is not a top-level Hilton. The upkeep and maintenance have fallen behind given the age of the building. It is not conviently located to the city center. The room smelled of mold. The service was lack-luster at best.

I picked this hotel as a stopover and for being near to Haymarket Train Station and the West End
Apart from the warm weather I got a lovely genuine warm Scottish welcome from Gerard Ireland on Reception. What an asset to your hotel !
My room was comfortable, very clean and in a quiet area
Breakfast was well stocked and guests were well attended too. Lovely tall Scottish chef on duty.
Restaurant Staff smiled and cleared tables all the time
It's amazing how small things go a long way to make one's stay enjoyable and this hotel can do it
