“Difficult to move around with cases”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

Hotel not quite Hilton style. Difficult to move around with heavy cases as many stairs. Breakfast not included in high price. Bathroom far from perfect. Shower did not work. Small double room. Friendly staff though!
Convenient for station and bus to airport. Interesting area.

Checked into hotel late evening. Told by receptionist that my room was across the street in their other building. So walked to the other end of the street in the rain, to enter what resembled a hostel. No offer of an umbrella. The Room was very hot so I had window slightly open, but couldn't sleep due to the leaking drainpipe by the window. So a choice between hot and noisy.
The taps in the bathroom produce a trickle of water at best.
. I ordered room service, but was told there was no pizza as the hotel was busy last week?? Settled for a burger and asked for no cheese or bacon. When it arrived it was covered in cheese and bacon. I was expecting Basil Fawlty to appear at any time.
My firm has an office close by which I visit regularly. Next visit I will stay at a proper hotel in the centre of Edinburgh and cope with the longer commute.
Awful.

Stayed for one night whilst working in Kirkcaldy (an easy 30 minute commute from nearby Haymarket station).
Having reserved a compact room (due to lateness of booking & company budget limits), was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a suite on arrival. One of the Diamond HHonors perks observed by the hotel.
The suite, consisting of bedroom, lounge, hallway and bathroom in fully separated rooms, was pleasant & retained the character of the original building. Views were over the corner of Grosvenor St and Lansdowne Crescent (bedroom & lounge) and Landowne Crescent & Grosvenor Gardens (lounge). The only gripe about the suite is the lack of AC leads to the requirement for the bedroom window to remain open overnight. This can lead to disturbances from traffic & the occasional whiff of cigarette smoke from below.
In addition to the upgrade the Diamond benefits observed by the hotel extended to free breakfast and a drinks voucher; however, disappointingly, the Hilton guarantee that Gold/Diamond members always enjoy free WiFi is not observed. On this occasion, having entered my surname and room number I was charged £9.99 for 24hrs of WiFi rather than receiving the usual VIP tier announcement. I was hoping this would be rectified overnight, but unfortunately the charge was still present on the bill at check-out. I will take this up with HHonors, as either the hotel are in error or the HHonors members' directory needs to explicitly state this hotel does not offer all on property tier benefits.

We had booked several rooms for various members of our family coming together in Edinburgh. Staff did sometimes struggle with our many different bookings, but everything worked out in the end. Great location, large room, no A/C so rooms were very hot in the summer. Clean, friendly staff, good breakfast. Hotel rooms could do with updating, but can't complain since we weren't in Edi to stay in our room

Very clean and comfortable. Lovely staff. Missed fifth star through lack of proper
supervision.
The breakfast was spoiled by a faulty toaster, putting the bread through three times in
order to get it brown was a bit putting off, as was having to spend 15minutes searching
for a barman in order to get a round of drinks.
Having said that , the dinner on Saturday evening was excellent. 229 persons served
with regimental precision with the food good and hot,

We booked a Sunday night with a hilton hotel deal for under 90£

The room had everything in it you would expect... But it was nothing fancy...
It wasn't dirty ... but it also didn't look clean, if you know what I mean. It needed re-decorating.

But without a doubt.....THE BEST BREAKFAST!!!!! I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! I would probably go back just for the breakfast.. they had everything available from french patisserie to good UK breakfast.. muffins.. yoghurts... fresh fruits.... and good service

I've now been to this hotel on two separate occasions, and each time I've found it to be a reasonable hotel for the price charged.
Rooms are clean, warm, and comfortable. The best rooms for avoiding street noise, are rear facing. En-Suite facilities are bright, fully functioning, and adequate. Some of the decor is 'tired', and would benefit from sprucing up a bit, but no major faults that I noticed.
Staff at the hotel are all very helpful, courteous, and friendly.
Breakfast was reasonably good, as was dinner in the evening.
I would happily return for a third time.
