Booked this hotel last minute and was pleasantly surprised with our stay. Got a family room on the second floor, the room was nicely decorated, nice big beds, kids beds were comfortable, TV worked fine, great shower and well heated.

The hotel is being renovated so the first floor is a bit of a mess as is the staircase down to reception but it will be nice when it's finished. The "view" from the family room (216) was onto a pretty grotty looking outdoor stair case - I assume also under renovation.

Location wise it's great, 5 mins from the EICC and Lothian Road. Parking however is an issue - there is none ! It's all residents permits around the hotel and the traffic wardens are notorious so don't chance it. The hotel give you a discount for the NCP car park (converted waste ground) about 5 mins walk away but it's still £12 a day !

The staff were very friendly and accommodating to all our needs and the wifi worked pretty well as well - which is free as well.

I'd go back but leave the car elsewhere

This hotel was a joy to stay in. I was staying, with 2 friends for the weekend. I booked 3 single rooms and was delighted when we were give rooms with double beds instead of single, as was expected. The en-suite was of very high standard, and had a great shower. The decor of the hotel is very tastefully done. The staff from Duty managers, to kitchen staff, housekeepinf staff and receptionist were all very efficient, polite and they couldn't do enough for you. Very helpful with information on places to visit and the best way to get there. Breakfast menu was fantastic. from full scottish to eggs benedict and anything in between, as well as cereal, fruit juice, fresh fruit, toast, bagels and yogurt with raspberry compot, muselli and topped of with fresh fruit, absolutley lovely. The residents lounge was wonderful, with the comfy sofas, antique chairs and ofcourse the "trust bar". Just help yourself and write it on the form provided. The location is 5mins from Haymarket station or a 15 min stroll into town or if, like us, jump on the bus round the corner and use your bus pass!!!! There is still parts of the hotel to be re-furbished,( finished by the end of April) and looking forward to returning with my family.

Room Tip: If, like one of my friends, you live in a quiet location, (She lives in the Scottish Highlands and i...

I stayed at the Edinburgh Brooks for 3 night in March as I was attending a conference at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC). For starters, the hotel is ideally situated for the EICC and is literally less than 5 minutes walk away. Its also very close to the city centre which was an easy 10 minute walk. Very handy! Check in was easy and I was given a quick tour of the facilities by the the excellent receptionist Kate. The hotel has been recently refurbished and my room was new, clean and with a very comfortable bed. En-suite bathroom with the best shower ever, free fast wi-fi, a TV and great tea-tray facilities were also a bonus. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice for everyone including haggis if you want it! All hotel staff were friendly including the owner Andrew Brooks who even took the time to have a quick coffee with me just before I checked out. I'm planning another trip to Edinburgh but this time with the family and will certainly be booking the Brooks for our stay!

Having stayed in the Bath Brooks, I was hoping Edinburgh would live up to the high expectations set there - and it did! Beautiful hotel - great room with a super comfy bed + fantastic shower. The lounge area was lovely, the breakfast was excellent + all the staff were really friendly. The location is brilliant as it is within walking distance of the city centre, but just far enough away from the hustle + bustle of typical central hotels. I will definitely stay again!

We stayed with our 2 kids over the Easter break and had a great weekend. It is a bit of a walk into town but nothing our 4 year old couldn't handle. Breakfast is a great option and the staff were all lovely. We didn't arrive until nearly midnight but the room was all ready for us and even had a few hidden surprises - Easter eggs for the kids!!! Keep up the good work guys and if we are every back in Edinburgh we will sure to stay with yourselves.

I have searched online for a hotel in Edinburgh for a couple of days. Lucky I came across of this beautiful hotel within acceptable budget. As it is recently renovated the interiors impress you right from the start of your stay. It offers Wi-Fi connection included in the price and it's available all around the whole hotel and rooms. The typical UK breakfast is simply delicious. The classic continental breakfast was also available. Once arrived we were welcomed by very friendly stuff who showed us the lobby and the bar with a wide offer of local whiskey. As we stayed there during the Easter holiday, we were surprised by chocolate eggs hidden in our room. The room was always very well cleaned everyday as well as the bathroom. The hotel is 10 minutes walking from Edinburgh city centre and the location close to renovated Edinburgh Quad with couple restaurants is also favorable. I would definitely recommend this splendid place to stay in Edinburgh for a longer weekend. We are planning a trip back to Edinburgh in the summer months when we hope the weather will be somewhat warmer and we definitely plan on staying at the Brooks Hotel again. We loved this place.

Room Tip: Take the breakfast.
