This is a fabulous little french restaurant with mouth watering food at sensible prices.
My in-laws have eaten there a few times and wanted to take me there on my next visit to Edinburgh. We booked for a Wednesday night, although when we arrived there was plenty of space, but it did fill up later.
The menus were handwritten and the choice was brilliant. Being french I suspect they don't really understand vegetarian options much in the same way as they don't when you go to France, but as our party are not vegetarian that wasn't an issue (if memory serves there were only 2 starters and 2 mains that were vegetarian by design).
I chose the Greek Salad with squid to start - the squid was absolutely perfectly cooked - and I mean perfectly. It is possibly the best cooked squid I have ever had, the texture was spot on.
For mains after much deliberation I had their rump steak burger. It came in a toasted bun, beautifully stacked with cheese etc. Totally delicious. No fat dripping off it. Just lovely lean meat.
The chocolate and beetroot brownie was astonishing - I have never had such a light brownie before. I hadn't wanted a desert but the in-laws were keen so I felt I had to be polite, I am so glad I was.
My in-laws were similarly delighted with their food, and the wine was sensibly priced and fabulous (but then my father-in-law knows how to chose wine on a menu).
Service was prompt and suitably attentive without being in any way intrusive. The obligatory basket of bread was served as it is in France, as was iced water.
I just wish I lived in Edinburgh still, this place would be at the top of my list for repeat visits.
