Owner description: Arthur's Seat is one of four hill forts, dating from around 2,000 years ago. Situated within Holyrood Park, as well as it's rich cultural heritage, the park offers walks, solace, wildlife, volcanic geology and unparalleled vistas of the city from its many vantage points. The park has several Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) designations due to its exceptional range of grassland habitats and its internationally important volcanic geology. Ranger service on site.

This is a wonderful and not difficult walk past a romantic ruined church to the top of the hill with a beautiful view and sense of achievement at the top. The top is a dormant volcano and you can take picture at the highest point marker. The views are magnificent and you can see every inch of Edinburgh and miles beyond in every direction. Unforgetable and not to be missed. You can also take a slightly different route down and you see where the land split during the eruption many thousands of years ago.

I've gone up Arthur's Seat a few times over the years and it's always worth the effort. The great thing is there are a couple of different ways you can head up the hill and there are plenty of lovely walks in and around the area. It doesn't take too long to climb, I have done it in less than an hour. The views are absolutely fantastic, you can see the whole of Edinburgh and it is definitely a special Edinburgh experience that costs nothing!

Ok, it is not a light walk. But if you are out of shape , just take it easy, take your time. It is not as long as it looks. And the views are great!! Be prepared for strong wind up there.

An amazing view of the city! If you catch the weather on a good day, its a very nice walk. Not to far of a walk away from old town, or easy access by bus

Although the climb was tough at times, it was all worth it for the view of Edinburgh from the summit. You get a 360 view of the city, the firth of forth and the hills and small lochs of Holyrood Park, it's absolutely stunning. I went there in the afternoon, but apparently it's supposed to be even more beautiful at sunset.

Well worth the time and energy!
