Situated within Holyrood Park, as well as it's rich cultural heritage, the park offers walks, solace, wildlife, volcanic geology and unparalleled vistas of the city from its many vantage points. The park has several Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) designations due to its exceptional range of grassland habitats and its internationally important volcanic geology. “Blowing in the wind”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2014

We did it under half an hour. Four of us on a super windy morning in August but the view from up there was amazing. Felt great. Stake out your own path and feel the wind in your hair. A windcheater is a must.

“Feeling alive at the top”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2014

Several paths to go to the top but each one is rewarding with a beautiful sightseeing.
Even with small children you can do it!

“A great walk, in the centre of town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2014

First, the weather was bad when we went up, so that's the only reason Arthur's Seat isn't getting 5 stars! It was quite cloudy and foggy, but still a great trip. I'd recommend this to anyone coming to Edinburgh, although you have to be fairly healthy/fit!

“No Cobwebs Here!”

Excellent way to gain some feel good factor; splendid views from the top but quite blustery on our ascent. Don't take the easy way out, very boring may as well walk down the tarmac.

“A stunning view that can not be matched!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2014

This is a wonderful place to hike and the view from the top is worth the effort required to climb there!! The only reason I rate this very good rather than excellent, is there are not any real trail markers to guide you up the hillsides. The trails are well-worn, but there are many and you have to sort of guess which mountain-top is Arthur's Seat and you are aiming for, based on the people you can see in the distance already gathered there and admiring the view. Some signage would really help! But definitely worth the muscle-power it takes to get to the summit!
