We've breakfasted at Mimi's a few times and have enjoyed their vast slabs of French Toast which are spectacularly good.

This time we tried to have lunch there and found initially that we would have been better to book a table as it was very busy. We were seated fairly quickly next to a sofa with three women with young children, and contrary to other reports, not only were the children well-behaved but the staff seem inclined to be quite friendly towards them. In other words, they perhaps prefer children who are well-behaved as opposed to others.

We ordered coconut-covered chicken (excellent, with outstanding cole slaw) and a hot dog which was pretty disappointing - the menu suggested it was one of their specialties but we found it pretty tasteless and the bun very doughy. To follow we had a truly monstrous wedge of chocolate cake which was very sweet but completely irresistible.

The staff are very friendly, but appear to be pretty disorganised and it can take an age to attract their attention, with a lot of them studiously staring at the ground as they walk through the restaurant. Prices are 'variable', some dishes being a bit more expensive than they might be worth. Overall, stick to the breakfasts here.

Been meaning to try this place for a while as heard some good reports. Arrived on a very, very busy Saturday but they managed to find a table. Was told the weekends are crazy but a bit quieter during the week. Had the fishcakes which were superb followed by coffee and a piece of homebaking, of which there is a great choice. A little over-priced but good, freshly cooked food and will be back - just not on a Saturday!

Great coffee and atmosphere there. The freshly made cakes and cupcakes will make your palate burst with pleasure!! My personal recommendation: Red velvet cupcakes and Red velvet Cheesecake.

Some nice savoury bites too (best of them: home-made fishcakes) however, I found the savoury dishes quite pricey for the serving sizes... It'd be great to have a wider choice of savoury dishes for a lower average price of £6 or so (in contrast to the current £9).

Headed here with a friend for lunch and it was a very cute little place. It was quite busy which was a good sign. Staff were friendly and attentive. Ordered a sandwich which came with a sideline of crisps. Sandwich was quite nice but nothing special. Had a wide selection of cakes and sweet things which looked lovely. I think this place would be lovely for a casual afternoon tea with friends.
