I had 2 glorious nights at No.27 : it is very conveniently situated, my double-bed room (& en-suite bathroom) was very stylish and comfortable. Ron's breakfasts are truly delicious (loved the fresh berries & creamy yoghurts), decent coffee (most important!) and overall, my stay there was very worthwhile. I highly recommend No. 27.

Room Tip: I'm sure all the rooms (think there are only 3 or 4) are equally good.

Big regret we did not stay longer. Ron & Julie are relaxed and friendly hosts but the hotel is very professionally run with much thought & attention to detail. Ron very obligingly prepared a very early breakfast for us as my husband was running the half marathon. He kindly ran us into the City when the bus didn't arrive. The room was lovely. Morningside is a really attractive area & in the day the bus service into Edinburgh is cheap and very easy. We are keen to return, both to the City & to this hotel

Room Tip: We were in a twin room at the front. There is some traffic but the hotel is high up & it didn...

Stayed here a couple of times soon after it opened. It was very comfortable. Ron and Julie made us feel right at home and we could chat about almost anything. A quick bus ride from the centre, but Morningside itself has plenty of good restaurants.

Sorry it's taken so long to post this review, but looks like you've got the plaudits already!

My husband and I stayed at Number 27 Morningside for 5 nights in April 2014. Ron & Julie were very gracious host & hostess. We had an idea of what we wanted to do in the area and they provided recommendations that enhanced most of the activities - from recommending 'Ron's wine' at the restaurant to walking the nearby Blackfoot hill for amazing views of the area. Booking was a breeze with just the right amount of prompt, friendly follow up to ensure all was on schedule as expected. Breakfasts were delicious and the dining area, with its lovely dishes was very nice. A small fire in the fireplace added to the charm. The location is excellent with a bus stop right down the steps - easy access to Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. The only reason I am not giving this a five star rating is the local street noise. We are high above the street, but there is a bit of traffic that made for a little bit of a disruptive evening.

We stayed at this b&b on the recommendation of friends and are glad we did. We had never stayed b&b before always stayed in. Hotels so were not sure what to expect. Things could not have been better.
Booking: emailed and got a fast response confirming availability and price. All booked with minimum fuss. We enquired about various attractions, restaurant recommendations and how to get to certain places. Ron and Julie were helpful and informative. They made a booking at a local restaurant knowing we were arriving late evening and would need to eat.

Arrival. We flew and got a taxi from the airport rather than buses. Although public transport is very reasonable we wanted to get there quicker. It was £17 fare. The house is lovely, newly decorated. We had the king room which was lovely. An en suite, high quality bed linen and a lovely big bay window to sit by when reading or having a glass of wine, or cup of coffee. The room was spotless. There is tea making facilities and a good choice of teas and coffee, biscuits , bottled water and a nice touch was the lindor chocolate each night. We were shown to our room and Ron offered to drive us to the restaurant to save time. (Cafe cucina great food good value)

Location - it is in the Morningside are of the city, we walked to the centre, the castle etc. however, there is a bus stop just opposite the house that has buses every five to ten minutes you can buy a day ticket to use as many times as you like for £3.50. We also got a bus to Leith to the Royal Yacht Britania just outside. There are several bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.

Breakfast - good choice of cereals , fresh berries, yoghurt says well as cooked breakfast toast etc all freshly cooked.

We thoroughly enjoyed the personal touch that comes with staying in a b&b, Ron and Julie were friendly helpful and informative and happy to go the extra mile to make our stay great.

Room Tip: Ask for the king room

I stayed here from March 18 until 20 and also on the 26-28th (2014) while visiting my daughter in Edinburgh. Ron and Julie were simply The Best. I felt like a welcome guest in their home. They went out of their way to be hospitable and Ron even drove me around the corner to my daughter's flat and helped with the luggage up 4 flights of stairs! What a gentleman. I've stayed at many B&Bs around the world but can truly say that Ron and Julie were by far the most gracious host and hostess I have met. Number 27 is well appointed , completely comfortable and quiet. It is well located, just steps transportation,, restaurants and shopping. I will definitely stay here the next time I visit our daughter at the University of Edinburgh.

Lovely stay in a relaxing, homely B&B. Its ideally placed for all Edinburgh has to offer and Ron and Julie were helpful and welcoming right from our initial enquiry. Breakfast choice was extensive and unrushed with timings to suit. Rooms are clean, warm and beautifully decorated and Ron and Julie really do create a relaxed atmosphere. We hope to visit again soon.
