Number 27 Morningside
Ranked #54 of 393 Edinburgh B&B and Inns
Reviewed 11 March 2011

Number 27 Morningside must rate as one of the best B&Bs in Edinburgh due to the high standards set by the owners, Ron and Julie. They are extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. The whole house is furnished to a very good standard and has an attractive fresh, modern feel. The rooms are spotlessly clean and fresh with en-suite facilities that are of a very high quality. The dining room is very bright and attractive and the breakfast was extremely good. Ron took great care to ensure that his guest's needs were met perfectly and that they had everything they required. He recommended the "home-made" marmalade and he wasn't wrong, it was lovely! Number 27, is extremely well positioned to catch the regular buses into Edinburgh or if you feel like a very pleasant walk you could stroll a couple of miles down to Princes Street, browsing in little shops or stopping at the many coffee shops as you go. Ron and Julie pay attention to detail and want to get things just right for all their guests. They have just started out with this venture quite recently and I wish them every success. I have to confess, I was a little reluctant to write such a good review because I realised that if Number 27 gets too busy it may make it more difficult for me to get booked up in future, however high praise is well deserved!

Stayed for one night with my 6 year old son. Lovely location for exploring Edinburgh. Morningside is wonderful. Try to get to Nonna's Kitchen for a meal - best Italian food for a long time.

Ron and Julie were great hosts and my really looked after us. He had a fantastic time at the Castle, the Museums and Galleries (well I had to drag him round galleries!), and Morningside was the perfect introduction to Edinburgh for small children - very child friendly. We'll be back!!

I found/chose this B&B thanks to Tripadvisor. The place that has received so positive feedback, does exist actually :) We stayed with my mum for 2 nights over the weekend, this was our first trip to Edinburgh, and staying at such great place only added to the overall fantastic experience. It is indeed, new and modern, it has nice and large rooms, great bathrooms and all the nice little touches in the room . Ron and Julie are very helpful and attentive hosts, couldnt wish for more. Area was also very nice (if you fancy walking 30 minutes to Princess street) and safe at night. Would highly recommend this B&B, but hurry up they might be fully booked soon :)

27 Morningside is a hidden treasure for business travellers. A beautiful house, with divine decoration and excellent, friendly service that makes it a more intimate and pleasureable stay than a hotel.

The rooms are newly refurbished and host everything you could possibly need. They are clean and quiet yet cosy and homely like a boutique hotel.

Breakfast and also dinner (pre-arranged) were delicious and requests taken!

Set in a fantastic location in Morningside, it was easy to find and has great access to the city, bypass and airport.

I will certainly be back for the friendly and welcoming service for a fun weekend in Edinburgh (and work too if needed). I've already recommended my colleagues to book up.

I highly recommend Number 27 Morningside to lodgers who desire the comfort of a hotel with the added charm of a B&B.
As an American traveler, my biggest problem with B&Bs is the fact that it's difficult not to feel like you're in someone's home. There's always quite a lot of tip toeing, 'yes pleasing' and the slight guilt that comes along with feeling as if you're an inconvenience.
The owners of Number 27 Morningside have found a surprising antidote to the awkwardness: classy informality! The ease with which the B&B is run is an appropriate introduction to my entire experience at Number 27 Morningside. The keepers are welcoming, well informed and answer reservation questions with warmth and surprising speed. The decor of the rooms is a delicate mix of the classic and modern. The charm of the rooms is in the details--reading lights above on each end of the headboard, insulated curtains and tv/dvd player are all lovely treats to the world weary traveler. The ensuite bathrooms could rival a luxury hotel with their 5 star amenities such as spacious showers, heated floors and shower gel and shampoo dispensers.
The keepers of Number 27 Morningside seem to be there when you need them, and disappear when you don't, which keeps forced niceties at bay. The breakfast consisted of good, honest, get-your-day-going food and it was nice to end a long walk to princes street with a warm welcome and a cup of tea.
