“Wonderful staff, exceptionally clean & Comfortable”
Reviewed 21 May 2012

We stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights for a weekend break, lovely welcome at reception,we were given a lovely large room which was exceptionally clean (the hotel infact was spotless), we ate in the Restaurant the Friday night, the Restaurant Manager was lovely so helpful, food was very pleasant, service excellent, breakfast was great, wide variety of food, chef making omeletts to order at no extra charge , this hotel has a great location although not in the city centre, the bus stop outside the door of the hotel has the main bus route for the Aiport to the City Centre (number 100,) which goes every 10mins takes around 20 mins, make sure you have the correct bus fare (1.40) one way .The Concierge were also very helpful and had a wonderful map which was a great, We will definatley stay again, I must comment on the General Manager Peter Dornom, very helpful, asked if we needed help with our luggage, at breakfast asked if we needed anything, in all the hotels we have ever stayed in we have never seen or had such a hard working, on the ball Manager (they are usally tucked away in an office) excellent Manager and the staff said he was a joy to work for well done to Peter Dornom.that is why the Hotel is so well run.

Stayed here for a family trip and was very impressed in the areas that matter like cleanliness an staff helpfulness. Would be impossible to critise the pool and buffet breakfast. Staff were always friendly, helpful and cheerful, especially the lovely cockney night manager.

Only criticism would be the woeful wi-fi. I would expect wi-fi to be free as standard in a 4 star but they charge you £6 for an hour or £15 for a day. And it was an awful connection that kept cutting out. But other than that very happy with stay. Would choose it again.

Located away from the main Edinburgh city area, however therefore is close to the airport / on the way to the airport.

Room was tiny and tidy. No issues.

Breakfast buffet spread was good - however a strange part I noted was that we were just not ALLOWED to help ourselves at the buffet counters. Only the server could do the same! Spread had some South East Asian preparations too, however those who don't miss 'Indian' stuff may find it to be an issue. But there are ample Indian and Bangladeshi restaurants some 1km down the road....

Room Tip: Try not to take the ones facing the road - due to the noise factor of traffic, as well as that of la...

Stayed with our 3 year old as part of a zoo trip. Have to say the hotel cleanliness, the facilities and especially the staff were excellent. Good easy location with free parling. Good bus routes into town directly outside the hotel. The rooms are a little tired but clean none the less. A good price for Edinburgh, especially when a Travellodge can cost up to 75 quid!
The only downside for a family was the bar and food prices. Restaurant prices for average bar food.
Excellent breakfast..

Out of town location but close enough for business district. Check-in slow, adequate service though. Room was somewhat dated with very limited ventillation and inadequate air conditioning. Food quality was high. Complimentary drinks in lounge was nice but again it was tired. Plus points is free parking and plenty of parking spaces, when you step off a plane late at night, the last thing you want is to be searching for a parking space and walking for miles with luggage! would stay again but insist on a better vented room.

We spent one night in April at the Marriott on Glasgow Rd. near the Edinburgh Airport, en route to other destinations. (There are several Marriott's in Edinburgh.) The lobby is fairly small, with an adjoining lounge bar where food and drinks are served.

The rooms are quite comfortable, with typical large chain business traveler rooms. WIFI incurs a charge. A buffet breakfast was included. Upon arrival, a long line had formed and the host was missing for quite a while before one was able to be seated. Some of the wait staff seemed to be inefficient and in need to some training; e.g., a server in our area only took a coffee/tea order from one table at a time and then went slowly to the kitchen and returned. He seemed oblivious to others trying to hail him to get their beverages. The rest of the breakfast was self-service so his ineptitude didn't come into play. The buffet was an amazing value for inclusion in the room rate. Many good selections. Lunch could be skipped if you were so inclined.

The evening before after check-in we wanted to eat in the restaurant/grill -- same location as buffet breakfast. It was fully booked, so we ate in the lounge bar, having been told that many selections were available there as well. While the service was nice, the food left something to be desired. Greasy and soggy fish and chips, which had been recommended by the server. Other diners near us seemed to fair about the same with their food choices.

All in all, this Marriott location was a good choice for a short stay near Edinburgh airport.

The hotel has everything you can expect from a standard Marriot. Nice and clean rooms, extensive breakfast and friendly staff. If you are for a stay in holidays, it is a great place to be. However, if you are planning to go out and about, the location is a bit far off. Although it is well connected to town center by bus (bus stop is right outside) but takes 30 to 40 minutes to get to town centre.

Vegetarians should be aware that restaurant of the hotel has extremely limited and basic (french fries etc). Since hotel is too far, you have very limited places to eat around the place.
