“Great location for Edinburgh”
Reviewed 8 November 2013 via mobile

This was our 4th stay here rooms clean and everything you need in them. Staff are helpful and friendly always ready to help if needed. Food is good standard and not too pricey. Great for location to airport and buses run past hotel to Edinburgh city center. Overall a good hotel.

The hotel is very clean and comfortable. It has immense parking space and parking is free which you generally won't see many Marriotts. City centre is about 15 mins drive and the airport is about 10 mins drive. So overall a very convenient location.

Outside looks like a standard Marriott. Just off the roundabout from the motorway but a devil of a road to cross to get to the entrance - overshoot it like I did and its a mile down the road before you can spin around to come back. Big free carpark and nice entrance, reception and bar / restaurant. The staff are very polite and courteous, the place is clean and tidy and my room had a really comfortable King size bed. No noise at all, a shower that worked and a 32" television in working order. The food in the bar was standard Marriott fare, ok but pricey and the usual mark up on the drinks costing nearly twice what you would pay locally. Breakfast was good and checkout easy with your bill slipped under the door in the small hours of the night. Very handy for Edinburgh, the motorways and the airport and a large shopping Mall South Gayle) within 5 mins walk

Room Tip: Just ask for a quiet room

This Marriott is near the airport but you can't hear the planes.
We booked here because it had a restaurant with breakfast included and a free dinner the first night. I am gluten free and the wait staff knew what I could eat, including toast at breakfast, although I had to ask.
The bus station was at the end of the driveway and was easy to get in town. We did take the taxi sometimes, though.
We were grateful that our room was ready when we arrived early in the morning, as we requested when we booked.
There was some noise, housekeeping staff started early and the room doors made lots of noise when they closed.
The cost was inexpensive, too.
The greeters are a little overzealous, especially when they took our bags to the taxi before we were even checked out and I am pretty sure the cost of the trip back to the airport started as soon as our bags were in the car.
There is also a café in addition to the restaurant to have a drink (and food) and chat with fellow travelers.

Arriving at the hotel from nearby Edinburgh airport, you see what at first sight looks like an industrial office block. But inside, it is pleasant enough to look at, but the key to my 2-day stay was the uniformly courteous and helpful staff. Reception, waiters and bar staff all helpful and courteous. I had a decent enough standard room, with comfortable bed. Buffet breakfast excellent (the waiter happily went off and made porridge for a colleague with water, on request, as the colleague didn't want the version on the buffet made with milk). Leisure club has a 15 m pool, just good enough for a few lengths of proper swimming. Décor is good enough, standard conference-hotel garb. Perhaps not the place for a romantic weekend, but for a conference, a party, or a stopover, certainly recommended.

Brilliant hotel for ease of getting in and out of Edinburgh - on the bus route to and from the airport.
Hotel spotlessly clean - we upgraded to executive room and enjoyed the lounge - not enough canapes to cope with the numbers using it but brilliant breakfast service - waitress kindly offered to go and get fresh eggs which were not generally available in the lounge. Came back with smoked bacon and black pudding too!!
Only little niggles - price of internet was meant to be included but had to sign up to a package - very expensive £6 per hour or £15 for 24 hours - which put us off - told later they would have taken it off the bill - but why was the whole hotel not wi-fi for the price?
No fan in bathroom which made it difficult to shave after a shower - and a warning not to leave the bathroom door open as it would set off the smoke detector - so they know there is an issue - extract fans needed.
Other than that a brilliant stay and would go back.

Room Tip: Worth the money to upgrade to the executive floor

Stayed here for one night prior to flying out of Edinburgh Airport on a stay and park deal. Room was spacious and very clean, staff were extremely helpful and the food was excellent, will definitely use again.
