“Great family hotel”
Reviewed 14 November 2013 via mobile

We enjoyed our stay, leisure club was fab, kids had a ball. Nice and close to airport thats why we chose it. The breakfast was fab, only suggestion is the eggs are cooked to order and when busy it took us 10mins to get our eggs cooked although we did have an omelette.

Spent only one night in this hotel which was a shame as the beds were absolutely wonderful. Really helpful staff on reception ( forgot my toothpaste and at 22:00 they were happy to provide a small tube!), room was spotless and express checkout was easy. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 3rd floor are larger than your average hotel room

Stayed 2 nights. The room was lovely and large with a King bed. All very clean. Also all corridors and main areas were very nicely furnished and decorated. We were there for a funeral and all the family were to meet at night. We only asked at 6.00 if we could book for 9 people for dinner and they quickly arranged a large table for us. Service was of the best quality and charming staff. The food was excellent too and there was a wide choice for all, including vegetarians. Would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it. Breakfast was great and so were all staff.

This hotel is excellently located for the airport, zoo, and city centre. We arrived too early to check in, not a problem, the friendly and helpful receptionist told us the easiest way to get into the city centre - the bus stop just over the road from the hotel. She also reminded us we would need exact change and happily gave us some when it turned out we only had notes. Buses were frequent, quick and much more convenient for getting into the city centre than parking.

Our room was spacious and clean, fairly standard for a Marriott!

After our trip into the city we had drinks and a light bite in their Chats bar. Again very friendly staff with a nice selection of drinks and snacks with comfortable chairs.

In the morning we went into the main restaurant for breakfast and it was lovely! All the usual breakfast stuff with a touch of Scotland, serving (delicious) porridge in little individual pots, and black pudding in the cooked breakfast selection. My husband's only minor gripe regarding breakfast was that the chef was unhurried when replacing the fried eggs, despite a strangely large queue of people waiting for them to be made!

Overall we had a lovely stay, nice decor and good location with lovely friendly staff. My only complaint is the archaic charges for WiFi usage. This is a modern 4* hotel, why you need to pay (a fair bit of) money for internet usage is beyond me, considering most hotels, chain restaurants and even shopping centres offer it free now. I'm also reliably informed that our local Marriott in Newcastle offers WiFi for free, so I think some continuity across the brand would be nice.

This was our 4th stay here rooms clean and everything you need in them. Staff are helpful and friendly always ready to help if needed. Food is good standard and not too pricey. Great for location to airport and buses run past hotel to Edinburgh city center. Overall a good hotel.

The hotel is very clean and comfortable. It has immense parking space and parking is free which you generally won't see many Marriotts. City centre is about 15 mins drive and the airport is about 10 mins drive. So overall a very convenient location.

Outside looks like a standard Marriott. Just off the roundabout from the motorway but a devil of a road to cross to get to the entrance - overshoot it like I did and its a mile down the road before you can spin around to come back. Big free carpark and nice entrance, reception and bar / restaurant. The staff are very polite and courteous, the place is clean and tidy and my room had a really comfortable King size bed. No noise at all, a shower that worked and a 32" television in working order. The food in the bar was standard Marriott fare, ok but pricey and the usual mark up on the drinks costing nearly twice what you would pay locally. Breakfast was good and checkout easy with your bill slipped under the door in the small hours of the night. Very handy for Edinburgh, the motorways and the airport and a large shopping Mall South Gayle) within 5 mins walk

Room Tip: Just ask for a quiet room
