“Great stay”
Reviewed 13 June 2014 via mobile

We stay in Edinburgh regularly in different hotels and I must say this is my new favourite... The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable about the local area and the best way to travel. Hotel itself is lovely and the bar area is very welcoming... And the outdoor seating area is fantastic we were lucky to have a lovely day of sunshine when we were there. Plently of car parking so we parked up and got the bus to the town centre.

Room was very comfortable and warm got a great nights sleep. The food was amazing I got the Cajun chicken burger which I highly recommend and my partner got the wild boar sliders (both on the bar menu) which he said we're really good.

Next time we stay in Edinburgh it's more than likely we will return to the Marriott.

I spent one night at this location and the staff was outstanding. The place was crazy with many runners from the marathon were delayed because of bad weather. Our room was not ready but the staff did everything possible to make us comfortable. They purchased beverages directed us to local shopping and made dinner arrangements.

Close to the airport-they need a shuttle. We had to take a cab still only cost us 6 pounds.

I stayed here on May 28th for 1 night, in school holiday period. It is on a main road and situated between the airport and city center. There was plenty of parking space at the hotel. I arrived and reception was very busy but was allocated a room within 5 minutes of arriving. The rooms were a typical Marriott room, clean and tidy and well equipped. I went down to the bar area, to have a drink and something to eat, it was very busy, but manged to get a table, however 20 minutes later, all the tables had gone, and some people were waiting to get a seat, i don't know if the restaurant was busy or not. I ordered some food which came quickly and tasted fine. The breakfast the following morning again was busy, but had a good selection of hot and cold buffet food

We stayed here because we were attending a function (which was well run), but this review is about the hotel stat. The room was clean, but the size and facilities were no better than a basic Premier Inn-style hotel. We expected more for a four star experience. It might be worth the difference if you intend to use the leisure facilities, although there were kids playing in the pool when we stayed.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for staying with us and sharing your view of our hotel.

We were delighted that you enjoyed the function you attended however was disappointed that you found our rooms basic and lacking a wow factor; please be assured that we will take these comments on board. Our guests often comment on our great facilities and we are sorry you were unable to experience these during your stay. Marriott pride ourselves on a clean room and a good night’s sleep which I trust you enjoyed along with an excellent breakfast.

I do hope that you will accept the above assurances and that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the hotel on a future occasion.

Warm regards,

Angela

We stayed in an executive room on a Saturday night. There was a fairly serious rain storm as we arrived so it was nice to be greeted with a large umbrella and helped with our luggage into the lobby. Check-in was friendly and efficient. We had a room on the second floor, typical very comfortable Marriott bed, 2 easy chairs and a large desk. The bathroom did seem a little cramped but this may just be in comparison to the smaller hotels that we had stayed in on this trip.
The executive lounge was a bit dreary with little natural light although staff were very pleasant.
Breakfast was very fine except for the decaf coffee, seriously weak!
Swimming pool is a pleasant place to relax for an hour or so.
All the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful.
A very pleasant stay.

Stayed in hotel for 2 nights.
Very welcoming staff. But there were few things I like to share, if you are a visitor then this hotel is far from all main attractions. There is bus service almost 24 hrs but it will take you almost half an hour to get to main attractions. This hotel is closer to airport so for me not for visitors to stay.
Although the staff was very welcoming but the rooms were not quite impressive. Every time our next door or even the room in front, open or close the door we can hear that clearly. And there was an air conditioning unit in the room which was really loud couldn't sleep properly because of the noise.
But the gym, spa, pool and restaurant were really good.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for sharing your experience with fellow travellers following your recent stay with us.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our facilities and whilst many of our guests find our proximity to the city centre a plus we fully appreciate how this is not convenient for all visitors to our beautiful city. The hotel is fortunate to have the benefits of excellent local transportation for our guests with a 24 hour bus service that stops directly outside the hotel. Journeys to the city centre normally take approximately 15 minutes however at peak travel times there may be a delay and we can now recommend to our guests the newly introduced tram service with the closest stop only a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the noise that disturbed you together with my assurance that our Property Manager will review the air conditioning unit in the room you occupied and the neighbouring door closers to ensure they are in full working order. Marriott prides ourselves on an excellent night’s sleep and we are very sorry that this was not your experience on this occasion.

We were delighted that you found our Hosts welcoming and we would love to take care of you on a future occasion.

Warm regards,

Angela

Stayed here before a 6am flight. Booked the park and fly deal which was great value and includes a taxi transfer to and from the hotel. Interior spotless and welcoming. Staff were very nice and our room was spacious with two double beds. Never ate here but it is in a very good location for links to the city and airport with the large Gyle shopping centre round the corner. Would stay here again without hesitation.
