Edinburgh Marriott Hotel

This was the only hotel of 3 that we stayed at that would let us book a double room for a family of four on our trip to Scotland. (otherwise we had to split the family apart & book two separate rooms doubling the cost of our vacation). This hotel was extremely convenient to the airport & Edinburgh as it is situated right on the bus route. To go into town, you simply cross the street & for 1,20 (Exact change) gets you there. To go to the airport, stay on the hotel side of the street to catch the "Airlink" Bus. Rooms are what is to be expected at a Marriott chain. Ours happen to include a full buffet which had everything & the service was good with coffee immediately brought over. The hotel "Pub" was a little slow but there might have been a staff shift change. Was disappointed in their "Sticky Toffee Pudding" as everyone here in the US says its a must try. All the hotel was friendly & helpful from the bell hop, reception, & wait staff.

The good reviews on trip advisor caused me to book into this hotel. I found the hotel ok but nothing out of the ordinary.
It is near to the airport but some way from the centre of town. Maybe because the one night I stayed there was just before the Edinburgh festival, but £130 for this standard of hotel was expensive. The rooms were ok and I got a good night's sleep but the window in the room was small leading to little natural light.
The buffet breakfast was average with limited choice.
All the staff were helpful and the large number of rabbits scurrying around the car park was amusing.

We chose this hotel due to its proximity to the airport because we had to catch a 6:30 am flight home the next day. We booked and prepaid two double rooms for one night through our travel agent -- one for our teenage daughters and one for my husband and me. Upon arrival at 9pm, we checked into our rooms and discovered that each room had two double beds. Since we were trying to travel on a budget, I immediately went to Reception to ask about the possibility of returning one of the rooms. Both receptionists were pleasant and very helpful. They called our travel agent and even though they could not get through, they told us they would not bill the agent for the extra room. We then inquired about breakfast, which was included in the price we paid, but were informed that the breakfast buffet would not be available until much later than our checkout time of 4:30 am. However, they offered us a continental breakfast, which was more than adequate. We were very, very grateful to the staff for all their help and would stay here again.

Stayed for 3 nights and thought the Marriott Hotel was just fabulous. We had a room with an enormous superking bed and 3 pillows and 3 square cushions, excellent padding when sitting up to read. Also sofabed and coffee table, plenty lamps and 2 reading lights on headboard. Also has fridge in sideboard and safe, drawer space and tea, coffee, hot chocolate and shortbread. Hairdryer in drawer which saves bringing your own. Bathroom is not large but is all you need. Shower was easy to regulate and is on a sliding bar which is essential as I am not tall but not every hotel has their showers on a sliding bar. Toiletries all included, even emergency toothbrush and shaver. Mirrored wardrobes have plenty hangers for a 3-4 night stay and has an iron and ironing board in there also. Reception and luggage staff were very pleasant. Breakfast had everything you would need and plenty of choice and the staff there were very friendly and courteous. The day we arrived was warm and we had one drink in the bar but took it to the tables outside which had large parasols and 3 little rabbits running around on the grass. Very tranquil. The hotel is a 20 minute bus ride from Princes Street in the City Centre and is no problem. A number 31 or 48 bus from Princes Street takes you right outside the hotel and costs £1.20 or if you buy a £3 day ticket you can go back and forth or anywhere else for that matter as many times as you like until midnight. A great saving but if you buy for Lothian buses you then have to get the Lothian bus which there are more of so best to buy for that one. One only bad comment would be that the internet is very expensive at £3 for 15 minutes equalling £12 for an hour!! No need to charge such high rates. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would highly recommend the Marriot to others.

This is a great hotel that is under GBP15 from the airport, and a similar amount into the centre of town.
Breakfast is only GBP8.95 which is cheap given content. The rooms are lovely and the bar is small but perfectly formed in the lobby downstairs.
Be aware that the hotel is not in the centre of town, but for the price you pay per night, it is ideal for short breaks or transiting passengers/business travellers

Me and my partner went on tourist trail (by road) in Scotland during the Easter Weekend. We stayed at Marriott,Edinburgh for 3 nights.
The hotel itself is at good location, not very far from Motorways and Airport. At the same time, it was 10 minutes away from Edinburgh Town Center. The room was very good and comfortable. The staff were good and very helping. We had breakfast and lunch which were up to the standards of Marriotts group.
Our overall stay was comfortable and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Edinburgh.

We arrived late evening on a very busy Friday night without a reservation. A member of staff noticed that my husband, who has mobility problems, needed help to get out of the car, and came with the offer of a wheelchair. He went for a chair, and took my husband and our luggage to our room, and offered to come back and park the car. We stayed a second time at the beginning of May, and found staff to be equally helpful, to the extent of a restaurant waiter going for a chair and pushing it all the way to our room.

We had no complaints about our rooms on either occasion, they were excellent, dinner was perhaps not quite the same standard as everything else on the first occasion, but breakfasts were good.
