We visited this bar twice during our recent visit to Edinburgh after finding it by accident. This is a pleasant bar/restaurant, although quite small. We enjoyed a bottle of wine in the bar area where it was a very relaxing and clean environment. The kitchen had some technical problems on our 1st visit but as we only required a drink this was fine. The kitchen was operating a basic menu to cater for those who didn't require a full meal. We found our 2nd visit to be just as pleasant, and again we were only having drinks so cannot comment on the food. The ladies loo could do with some regular attention, there was a distinct lack of soap on both visits and the loo roll was rather scarce too. Other than that, I found the Conan Doyle a desirable place to have a quiet chat and a drink with a loved one.
