I've become a regular visitor to this little bistro, whether I'm there to grab a coffee to-go or have a full on meal the staff are always super friendly and helpful. The food is great (although it's difficult not to just always have the 'croque') and their cakes and treats are excellent. If you haven't gone, then go!!

Had lunch here last weekend. Always amazed at the amazing food at such a good price! And always end with the cheesecake - its to die for.

I visited the cafe with my Mum although have been several times before as i live locally. Absolutely fantastic wee cafe bistro that is well worth a visit if you are in the area. Whilst i can vouch for the tastiness of most items on the menu (Croque Monsieur is always a fave!) you simply have to try the specials that are listed on the blackboard. Beautifully thought-out and well-presented starters, mains and puddings which are coupled with relaxed, friendly service and a good choice of drinks (now including wine!). The home baking is also very tasty and if you have a chance to try the Framboisier cake, which sometimes appears as a special, then you absolutely must! Divine!

The bistro is child friendly and also caters for larger parties and private dining on arrangement. The interior is relaxed, casual dining with bright, warm colours and art work adorning the walls, which changes regularly and is also available for purchase.

Other pubs and bistros in the area have begun to disappoint and lose their sparkle, but The Water of Leith Cafe Bistro continues to impress! Unpretentious, consistently well-executed food at great prices.

We will be back!

Fantastic welcome, owner with great personality and very helpful whether describing the menu options or directions for places to visit for tourists, a fun lady. Great menu, very individual and a wonderful variety, only problem was choosing. I was planning to share a desert as so full after the main course but it was so irresistible, really couldn't stop eating. A great local eatery for mums and wee ones to pop in but also near the Water of Leith so visitors seem to just come across it. Should also mention the changing exhibition on the wall which give artists a showcase for their work. Would strongly recommend a visit. While it is mainly day time hours they offer private evening and late afternoon dining for parties of twelve or more. From family gatherings to weddings. Did I say what a treat it is to go there. Go there, what's not to like.

well deserved reputation. The only weak point is coffee, which is bland and not up to their standards. For the rest, best place I've been in Edinburgh.
