“High quality hotel in great location”

This is the best place to stay in new town - just around the corner are vibrant Princess street and Rose street. This is where all the dining and shopping is happening. On the same time the hotel neighborhood is very quiet and nice.

We didn't want a hotel as we had our older son with us. We decided on a 2 bedroom apartment in Young st, what a great location, central for most things, 5 minute walk onto Princess street, surrounded by lovely eating places, coffee shops and bars. The staff where so nice, there is a 24 hour reception. You can park your car for £15 per day, it's amazing you drive your car into a lift which takes you to an underground car park. The apartment was equipped with everything, DVD, I pod dock, dishwasher, washer dryer, fridge freezer. We had a very large bathroom with a shower and toilet. Our bedrooms where very spacious and plenty of space for clothes. We would recommend anyone to use these, you will not be disappointed....

Room Tip: We where at the back of the building on the ground floor, there is no view but very peaceful.

Room Tip: Only downside is cobbled street at front of building so ask for the back as it gets noisy in the mor...

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in a one bedroom apartment in March 2013, and were very impressed.
The location is central to everything, and the apartment has everything that you could possibly need.
The bed was quite small, as it was only a double, and the car park was a bit tricky to get in and out of, especially the first time, but none of that was a bother.
The staff were extremely helpful; the apartment was spotless; the breakfast pack was excellent value and the apartment was reasonably priced. What more could you want?
We would definitely stay there again if ever visiting Edinburgh, and would not hesitate to recommend to others.

Stayed for an impromptu weekend break and, as usual, Trip Advisor didn't let me down.

I would echo all the positive remarks left by previous commentators in that the Stewart Apartments are extremely handy if you're wanting a very central base for exploring the city. Literally, they're a 2-3 minute walk from George & Princes Street.

We stayed in room 10 on the first floor, comprising 3 rooms: a bedroom, a combined living area/kitchenette and a bathroom. It was clean and spacious enough for a couple, though the bed was a standard double rather than the king size we're used to.

The furnishings are all to a high standard with a 2 seater leather sofa, Panasonic iPod docking station/Blu-Ray DVD player and 42" flat screen in the living area; ceramic hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge & washing machine in the kitchenette; safe, Panasonic 37" flat screen and iPod docking alarm clock in the bedroom. Instructions for the various appliances were provided but it would have been helpful if they had been front and central with the other room information rather than tucked away in a kitchen drawer. Having said that, how to switch the grill on was a complete mystery, with instructions for everything else but!

The living room did get too hot until we found the thermostatic valves. Even so, the bedroom remained uncomfortably warm and we would have preferred less heat and more bed linen, which simply comprised a light duvet and a throwover cover. Opening a window wasn't really an option as the cobbled street outside means cars travelling past can be noisy, which I suspect the owners realise as the rooms are all double glazed. Coupled with the standard sized bed, it cost the place just an average rating, i.e. 3 stars, for sleep quality, I'm afraid.

2 other negative aspects to our stay meant it didn't get a clean sweep of 5 stars:

1. Check out time of 10.30 am. Later is possible if you're willing to pay £10 for a bit of extra time, up to £25 for a 2 pm maximum. 10.30 am is too early and up to £25 is sheer greed. 12 noon should be standard. [1 "value" star deducted for this].

2. A personal gripe of mine: no toilet brush in the bathroom. Perhaps other people are comfortable leaving a loo in less than a pristine condition for one's partner to enjoy but I, for one, am not. [1 "cleanliness" star deducted for this].

Limited parking is available in an under the street garage at an extra £15 per night cost. Be warned, it's a tricky manoeuvre even in a standard saloon and impossible in a large 4x4.

Stayed here for two nights on a mixture of business and leisure. Chose the apartments based on excellent reviews and value (compared to hotels). Very good quality apartment - could not fault it. Very helpful staff - nothing was too much trouble. Superb shower in a spacious bathroom. Excellent location just a few mins walk to Princes Street but also on a quiet street with virtually no traffic. Right next door to Oxford Pub (made famous by Inspector Rebus) and 100 yards from Cambridge Bar which had a lively atmosphere and seemed to be popular with diners. All in all, highly recommended.
