Glenalmond is situated on a busy road lined with B&Bs so takes a bit of finding. There is parking in the front yard of the house. We arrived at much the same time as other guests and felt our welcome was somewhat rushed. Our room included comfortable lounge chairs. The bathroom had a fixed overhead shower - welcome after night after night of pushing the button on a little box and having the shower head at the end of a hose. Breakfast was served in a pleasant room looking out to the street and the never ending passing buses. There are many options on the breakfast menu which is submitted the previous night however my request for a slight variation was met with no problems. My only criticism was that we had left our towels spread out over the chairs to dry ready for reuse the next day only to have them folded neatly while still damp!

We stayed at Glenalmond House for four nights last week, and had such a wonderful welcome from Fiona and Jimmy. The rooms we saw were both well furnished (we were offered the choice of two rooms when we arrived). Not massive, but comfortable and toasty warm. Plenty of tea, coffee etc in the room, plus fresh milk if requested (Jimmy made a special trip out for us to get some as they'd run out) - as well as kitkats :-) Bathroom was lovely and clean, lots of fresh towels and a large lighted mirror over the sink - nice big powerful shower head as well. Breakfast was always faultless - your choice of cereal/porridge/yoghurt/fresh fruit etc, and then a choice of full Scottish cooked breakfast/scrambled egg and smoked salmon/cheese and tomato omelette/waffles/pancakes. All with toast, tea and coffee, juice etc - we didn't need to worry about finding somewhere for lunch each day! The maps and bus info we got given were all really useful as well, there are also plenty of guidebooks on the bookshelf upstairs if you need any ideas for things to do! Would we stay there again? Most definitely!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are very nice and clean and service is great. It didn't feel quite as personal as some of the B&Bs we've stayed at, but we were quite busy while in Edinburgh anyway. There is a very nice lounge area and lots to choose from for breakfast. The location requires a little walk to Edinburgh's center, but we didn't mind. If you don't like walking, there's a bus stop basically right out front of the house and it's inexpensive to use. Overall, a great stay!

Visiting Edinburgh to see family and take in The Lion King at the Playhouse.Great location for both. Jimmy and Fiona were very friendly and helpful and the full English breakfast was excellent. Beautiful room appointed to a very high standard with lots of attention to detail. Attractive mahogany furniture in the room and the beds were very comfortable.

Fiona and Jimmy could not have been better hosts. They were always available and helpful. Breakfast which was cooked to order was wonderful with several choices. The rooms were beautiful with coffee, tea and a biscuit available. The parlor was a wonderful place to relax after a day of adventures. The location is only 1 1/2 miles from the city center with lots of city buses and taxis.

My friend and I had booked the Glenalmond House months before our trip to Scotland because of the great reviews of it on line. Now I can say, they are all true. It is a really beautiful place to stay. The beds are comfortable and cozy to climb into after a long day out and about. Fiona and Jimmy, our hosts, were so kind and accommodating. They even let us move into a bigger room after the first night. The breakfast each morning was really delicious and filling. I loved the veggie haggis! In the evening they put out a bowl of fresh apples grown in their garden for guests to enjoy. There is an honour bar in the lounge as well as an ice machine.
The bus stop in just up the road and is easy to use as busses come and go frequently. Or you can walk into the main part of town as it is only one mile. We agreed when we return to Edinburgh we shall stay at Glenalmond House again as we enjoyed our experience here throughly.

Room Tip: We liked room #2...big enough for two friends to spread out in and it's away from the street sid...
