My wife and I stayed for two nights. The room was excellent and what one would expect of a good boutique hotel. The reception staff showed a genuine interest in their guests with a standard of service that was hard to beat ( in fact it was the best we have experienced for a long time ! ) On the second evening we ate with guests at their Kyloe Restaraunt and we all rated this as a thouroughly enjoyable experience - really good food with a standard of service to match
However to us they took "boutiqueish" too far by serving breakfast in the public bar not the restaraunt. The menu was a" walk in off the street" one - not for us and for this reason we would not stay again

We stayed at this hotel on saturday 14th. We arrived in Edinburgh at about 11am and went straight to the hotel to see if we could leave our luggage (check in wasnt until 2pm) We were made so welcome and they offered to check us in and then said they would contact us when the room was ready. The lady on reception asked if it was a special occassion and it was my fiancee birthday. She then gave us a map and showed us where the best places to go were. We were then treated to complimentry coffee in the Rutland bar. At about 1.30 we received a call to say the room was ready. When we arrived back at the hotel our luggage had already been taken up to the room. The lady then took us up to our room and it was just amazing. There was a bottle of processo in an ice bucket with some champagne glasses and a birthday card for my other half all from the hotel. The card said happy birthday- enjoy the fizz on us!! We were so touched by this kind gesture. We stayed in room 6 which was the junior suite. The bed was huge and the TV! There was a jacuzzi and rain shower and luxury toiletries. Good quality hairdryer and white GHDs. Even the tea and coffee facilities were first class!! The room was so nice that we ate a quick meal out then went back to our room as i could have spent all weekend in there!! We would receommend this hotel to anyone. we have stayed in many great hotels but this tops them all. Another highlight was Mary King's Close which was a great experience.

Room Tip: Room 6 the junior suite was lovely- it even had a sneaky view of the castle.

Very impressive hotel with some really nice touches. The executive room was excellent with everything you could need for a weekend stay. Good space and excellent facilities. Outstanding attention to detail. Brilliant value for what you're getting. The bathroom was excellent too with a jacuzzi bath (nice after walking up Arthur's seat) and a rainfall shower. Clean, modern, stylish and worth it. Friendly and attentive staff. Would definitely return.

Just got back from a weekend away and stayed at The Rutland. Its a wonderful immaculate boutique hotel with good size rooms. It was our tenth anniversary and the staff did all they could to make us feel welcome (Thank you!!) . The in breakfast (additional £10) was fantastic, venison sausage, haggis, pork sausage, bacon, toast, mushroom, tomato with coffee, toast and fruit juise and well worth every penny. The in house bar is well presented, attentive staff and competitively priced drinks for a hotel. We ate at the hotels 'Kyloe' resteraunt. I am a steak fanatic and had the best steak I have ever had. The resteraunt specialises in steak and the knowledge of staff is second to none. One tip, ask for a quiet room as you can hear the nightclub which doesn't close until 3. We will definately be returning.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet one - high floor.

Lovely spacious room with jacuzzi bath, power shower, ghds, hairdryer, massive bed, sky tv and i pod dock which has connection to bathroom. Not forgeting the complimentary muffins they were delicious.
The staff were fab especially jill, they were so helpful, friendly and attentive. Thanks guys.
Never ate in restaurant but heard other guests saying it was lovely. Had breakfast roll in morning and it,was good.
Had a fab time and Defo will return.

Just back from a short break at the Rutland. Really nice truly boutique hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly, good breakfasts. Stayed in the Castle View room (No 5) with a perfect view of the castle. Good size room with enormous baroque style bed and furniture. Only complaint would be that the jacuzzi bath was not in the best condition, clean, but one end was really scratched with the top surface missing in places. Apart from that - perfect.

Great location at the end of Princes Street and v close to the Airlink bus stop.

We've just spent a two nights at the Rutland over Hogmanay - and it was so good, I am almost loathe to post a review in case we can't get in next time. We were in the Apartment (4 adults, 1 child) which was superbly furnished (large comfy beds, tvs in bedrooms, large tv and bose system living room, very well-equipped kitchen) and in a great location. The staff were great - right from when we arrived through to when we left. We thoroughly recommend the breakfast, which was very well prepared using good ingredients and very competitively priced (£6.95 for Eggs Benedict). Looking forward to staying there again.
