Firstly, I'd have to say that this really is an excellent hotel that i would recommend to anyone?
The decor is very pleasing on the eye, and the rooms really are well equipped (as you'd expect really).
Staff are very friendly and accommodating, from reception to the barmen serving cocktails right through to the staff in the restaurant - its now a steakhouse and the server Rachel had an extensive knowledge of the menu and what was best, even down to the level of cooking for my t-bone!
Complaints/drawbacks: I am in a wheelchair and cannot stand nor weight bear at all, and we were informed that the hotel was fully accessible. The best entrance to use brings you into the bar area and still has a 10" step that had i been alone i wouldnt have been able to negotiate.
We stayed in room 1 which was a very nice room with more than enough space for my chair, and the bathroom seemed to be very well set out at first glance; it was a full wetroom setup.
the shower seat was a very funky plastic number but it wasnt too great to sit on - but maybe i'm just too wide lol! the actual issue was the grab handle - there was one on one side instead of 2, and it was very awkward a space to manouvre in?

apart from that, good food, lovely hotel, great staff, had a very enjoyable weekend and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: we were in room 1 and didnt have a castle view, but it was so spacious and a lovely place to be.

Superb location near Princes St and Lothian Rd junction. Lovely staff and room (we had standard class room no 2). 8 hour power cut (not hotel's fault) was dealt with professionally and appropriately. Good quality breakfast (recommend the eggs benedict for a change).

My wife and I stayed for two nights. The room was excellent and what one would expect of a good boutique hotel. The reception staff showed a genuine interest in their guests with a standard of service that was hard to beat ( in fact it was the best we have experienced for a long time ! ) On the second evening we ate with guests at their Kyloe Restaraunt and we all rated this as a thouroughly enjoyable experience - really good food with a standard of service to match
However to us they took "boutiqueish" too far by serving breakfast in the public bar not the restaraunt. The menu was a" walk in off the street" one - not for us and for this reason we would not stay again

We stayed at this hotel on saturday 14th. We arrived in Edinburgh at about 11am and went straight to the hotel to see if we could leave our luggage (check in wasnt until 2pm) We were made so welcome and they offered to check us in and then said they would contact us when the room was ready. The lady on reception asked if it was a special occassion and it was my fiancee birthday. She then gave us a map and showed us where the best places to go were. We were then treated to complimentry coffee in the Rutland bar. At about 1.30 we received a call to say the room was ready. When we arrived back at the hotel our luggage had already been taken up to the room. The lady then took us up to our room and it was just amazing. There was a bottle of processo in an ice bucket with some champagne glasses and a birthday card for my other half all from the hotel. The card said happy birthday- enjoy the fizz on us!! We were so touched by this kind gesture. We stayed in room 6 which was the junior suite. The bed was huge and the TV! There was a jacuzzi and rain shower and luxury toiletries. Good quality hairdryer and white GHDs. Even the tea and coffee facilities were first class!! The room was so nice that we ate a quick meal out then went back to our room as i could have spent all weekend in there!! We would receommend this hotel to anyone. we have stayed in many great hotels but this tops them all. Another highlight was Mary King's Close which was a great experience.

Room Tip: Room 6 the junior suite was lovely- it even had a sneaky view of the castle.
