We stayed here recently on a weekend break. I had read that the exterior left something to be desired and entered with a little tripidation on arriving. However the staff were absolutely lovely and very helpful, and the room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It was great that you could drop luggage off before check in and then the staff put it in your room for you. Having a decent quality hair dryer and GHDs in the room was excellent and I loved the room walk in shower. Despite being a light sleeper the traffic didn't disturb me and all in all it was a great hotel.

Room Tip: We stayed in a standard double and it was lovely.

Hi Folks,

Just a wee note to thank you for your lovely comments. I'm pleased you liked our staff - we try to make sure everyone who visits us has a great time!

The GHD's and good hair dryer are personal favorites of mine too, as it means you have less to pack!

I hope we'll see you again,

For her birthday, I treated my girlfriend to a two-night stay at The Rutland and thought I would book a castle view room, to make it a little more special. The castle view could not have been better, it was like having a picture of the castle on the wall! Out of the other window, we could see right down Princes Street. On our arrival, the receptionist could not have been more helpful. Before showing us to our room and giving a thorough handover, she took the time to ask us what we would like to do on our visit to Edinburgh. She then gave us details of which bus we would need for each of the attractions that we wanted to see. She even recommended the best route to walk to the castle.

The receptionist was even happy to amend a dinner reservation(not at the hotel) and arrange a taxi for us, when we were running a little late from a busy day's sightseeing.

The room's decor was outstanding and very clean and my personal favourite aspect was the complimentary home-made shortcake supplied each day!

The bar staff were very friendly, as were the restaurant staff and the food was delicious and not overpriced.

When I return to Edinburgh, I will definitely be staying here again. Really made our break special. Thank you to all of The Rutland staff.

Room Tip: Castle view room 11, highly recommended!

We stayed in the Rutland Hotels apartment which is just a few doors down the road from the Hotel. The staff were helpful and pleasant and really seemed interested in the guests wellbeing.

The apartment is great value for money working out to be cheaper than two double rooms. Its also both spacious and ultra-modern, but with character. The garden is a great little space to relax and a nice addition.

We would certainly book this hotel again if we were to visit Edinburgh again.

Hi folks,

Thank you for reviewing The Rutland Apartment. I'm very pleased you enjoyed your stay and could make the most of the garden - it is a real sun-trap and can get very toasty in the summer!

I hope we can welcome you back to stay with us again, next time you are in Edinburgh.

Many thanks,

We stayed at this hotel for a few days for our honeymoon, and it was fantastic! The welcome by the staff was lovely. They showed us to our room and explained how to work all the techy stuff (ipod which connects to speakers in all rooms so you can listen to the music in the bathroom). Welcome muffins, champagne and roses on the bed which were all done by the staff at the hotel! They could not do enough for us.

The room its self was very modern, and wonderfully decorated. We had a castle view room which you could see when you woke up. Both a fabulous shower and spa bath with all the nice little products.

The area of the hotel is great, really close to everything. Its good if you want to be in the 'thick of it all', near all the shops and some great restaurants, including the one in the hotel!

Overall, it was a fantastic stay, cant think of anything i would have changed!

We had a great weekend away at The Rutland. The location is second to none; the rooms are clean and beautifully decorated; the staff extremely helpful and welcoming. Lots of nice touches eg GHD straighteners in the room, muffins on arrival etc. Only negative is the noise - but if you book a hotel in a trendy, central area you have to suck it up!!

Stayed here over the weekend the Edinburgh Marathon was on - when everything else appeared to be completely over-priced. Had a really great stay - the rooms are very nicely decorated, the interior has great ambience, and everything you might need has been thought of and provided. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location just at the end of Princes Street is great for the station - and being able to drop you bags off before your room is ready and leave them to pick up later on the day of departure is a real bonus. Don't be put off by the exterior - it looks a little shabby but hides a real gem. We will be going back again soon.

I'm pleased you found our staff helpful and friendly - providing excellent customer service is very important to us as we know how integral it is to a good hotel stay.
